I've seen this:
Edit: See link below
on ebay, which looks fun for messing around on, but who are Maico, and can you get parts for them?

Maico are quite a well known brand in the 'right' circles they have a good rep I believe.
However spares for a 1986 bike mx bike are never going to be great.
£800 seems rather a lot for an 86 bike - especially if it is actually a mx one (lots of maintenance).
Oh and I believe this is the actual link you want:

It would be a gamble, but if it's really in good condition, then it could be a reasonable project to get it on the road and made legal.
Ive recently picked up my CCM500, which im storing at my dads house while i make some room for it. It's got 8months tax and MOT, and has lights, horn, speedo. But if im going to seriously think about using it on the road as a winter bike, then i need to fit some indicators and maybe a battery, and all the switch gear too.
Parts for old bikes like MX'ers and Enduro machines can be very tricky to find. Id cry if i had a late 80's KTM500, as they are just about impossible to get parts for. My bike has a Rotax 486 engine, which is the same engine that they used in an infamous American built off road trike, called the Tiger. It is commonly known as being the fastest production trike of all time, thanks to it having a tuned version of the 52bhp 2 stroke engine. |
