Ok lads

Im completely new to biking, ie by CBT is booked, just waiting for the day. You can blame by older brother for getting me into biking. But my question is what bike to i get for my first, im planning to just get a 125 for for now, to build up my confidence and road awareness etc. Im 26 so ideally i want a fairly big bike, but it must be a 125 to start with, i also plan to keep the bike for a few years, as its mainly only gonna be for social and dosmestic, iv got a company van for everything else.

Iv got my eye on a new Hyosung GT125R, its a nice looking, big bike, any body got any other suggestions as what else to consider??

That's a pretty big bike, but it's a 4 stroke so it won't be particularly nippy. In the same vein as the GTR the Hyosung Comet and the Honda Varadero are big 4 strokes, but different styles.

If you want something a big faster consider an Aprilia RS125 or a Yamaha DT125 (race rep and off-road respectively), but they are 2 strokes to reliable performance requires a lot of maintenance, and expensive 2 stroke oil.

As long as it will sit at 70mph i would be happy, im not expecting earth shattering speed as what ever i get will be a 125, to be honest i will rather have a reliable 4 stroke than a 2 stroke, i like the look of the varadero, but i must admit i prefer the look of the gtr.

As for Aprilla's, all i hear is that there very unreliable! But being a newbie, i could be wrong

for cheap reliable transport, a 4 stroke 125 is good
for fun, 1 2 stroke 125 cant be beaten
ok you might have to get your hands dirty a bit, but you have the van as practical transport, so id recommend a 2 stroke 125
