I have noticed a few people who are selling bikes mention 'it has a slipper clutch' fitted, what exactly does this mean? and what does it do for me the rider/the bike being ridden?

It prevents the rear wheel locking up when changing down gears quickly.

They can be bought fairly cheaply aftermarket and come fitted to a few newer bikes as standard.
