hi all i have just got my bike back after having a new chain and sprockets fitted and have noticed a fair bit of vibration in the pegs and front of bike.

i know this is bad karma for not buying rookies chain and sprockets but i wondered if anyone has an idea what might be causing it.

someone on another forum has suggested it might be the engine mounting bolts.

cheers for any advice

First thing I'd check is the chain tension.

the mechanic said it was spot on when i was talking to him at the back of the shop.

told me to keep it like that and to keep it lubed up.

he usually goes on for ages about valves and shims e.t.c when i ask him about taking the bike in for another major service.

he seems to know his stuff but this seems to have started after i took the bike in.

What bike??, some Hondas and I don't know what others have a shock absorber type thing in the OE front sprocket, use aftermarket and you get more vibes in the pegs. You do sometimes get it between different makes of sprocket as well, just a slight difference, weight, material etc can affect the vibes/harmonics. If eveything is set up right it's just one of those things you'll have to get used to unfortunately

Check the foot peg mounting bolts. I find if mine have loosened a bit the pegs start to vibrate.

Tyre balance could also be causing it- check the tyre weights haven't been knocked off during the sprocket change.

Is the vibration when the bike is moving?

I doubt it is tyre balance even then, as it won't just be the pegs you feel it through.

Check all the engine mounting bolts are tight. Re-check the chain tension with you sitting on the bike too.

Get a spanner on the mount bolts and pegs as well, might work wonders.

First thing I thought of is chain tension, if you've been running knackered sprockets for ages it might just be the difference between them has startled you-just a different type of vibration.
