PostPosted: 09:35 - 08 Nov 2006    Post subject: Victim of Road Rage Reply with quote

Well, the title pretty much describes it as it was not me with the road rage.

I was filtering down a small strip of duel carrigeway where the traffic has come to a stop before a round about, anyway as i usually do i try to pull into my lane a couple of cars back but no one wants to let me in, so i see a small gap infront of a 4 wheel drive and put my front tyre in there a i usually would, then move in when the car infront moves.

The car infront begins to pull away then i feel the four wheel drives wheel and bonnet pushing my left side into my bike, so i let go of front brake and roll back a bit so im out of his line. then turn around and shout to him what the fuck are you doing. This point i realise hes after trouble as trying to knock me over is not the norm so he pulls up beside me lowers his window and starts shouting at me for "filtering and not letting any other fucker through' i simply told him im not doing anything illegal and that i wasnt doing anything dangerous. he then tells me to pull over on the left and starts punching me in the head, i mean i had my helmet on so i wasnt feeling anything but this blokes a phsyco. Cause of the way i was jammed up against the side of his car i could let go of the bike to hit him (i had armourd gloves on) as everytime i tried the bike started to go over and my leg on left side was blocked of from putting it in gear.

So i look round and try to boot the car as hard as i can, managed to lean the bike over a bit more just so i could get a kick at his door. then as i try to go straight ahead at the round about he swerves and tries to knock me into the round about, but me being on bike just pull away and hes goes left.

Im glad i didnt go around the left and pull over because he could have had anything in his car and seemed pshyco enough, but im really pissed of i didnt get the chance to deck him one or do his car any decent damage. Was also unable to get his license plate Sad

But why on earth would someone just go mad like that, no reason for it he just had it out for me and obviously didnt seem to care if i were to be knocked of my bike and killed. Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them? oh and does anyone know of a burgandy 4 wheel drive, possibly a land rover driving around stevenage (i would like to pay him or his car a visit)?

And no-one tried to help you out?

If I was in the car next to all of that, I would have paralyzed the fucker, and that's not even fighting talk...

Nope because i was by the side of his car there was no way i could see it, really wish i was able to.

Is it still worth reporting this to the plod as maybe they can appeal for witnesses or something. Just not to sure if its worth reporting.

Do you ever recall seeing him on your route before?
Maybe you'll see him again. I guess all you can really do is make sure you note his number plate, then pull in front of him.
If he tries anything, you can go to the police.

Of course, going to the coppers will probably get you nowhere anyhow...

Otherwise, do the same thing, and if he gets out his car and tries to hit you, then absolutely flatten him in defence. The fact that he got out of his car and you have your helmet/gloves on should be enough to show all the provocation and intent came from him.

Be careful of punching with gloves on, despite the armouring on the exterior, the interior is soft and will cushion punches. Best have something hard and hand sized that will stop him good and proper. Something you would carry on a bike anyway, like a D lock or something.

Am sorry to hear what happened. I face the same dilemma daily, as I need to filter quite a lot. There is one light where i need to turn left, but hv to filter from right to get to the front (2/3 cars behind) and then just move back in!!

IMO plod wont give a shit to that! No witness, no number plates.. literally no chance.

If you wanted to do something like that, you should have turned and followed the car.

It's a classic case of road rage, am surprised he started to hit out!

Dont believe there is any CCTV cameras there, will take a look at lunch when im on ym way home.

I am really pissed of at myself for not being able to do anything to him but he would have been able to tell i was following him and could have called some one tried to knock me of as he had been or could have had crow bar or something in his boot.

It would have been different if my visor was open and he got a punch in my face, then i would have lost it and followed him round, but as it wasnt hurting i managed to stay a bit calmer. Just anoying i could put it in gear and on the stand to hit him one.

Just hope i see him on route home again

Oh and the bloke wasnt young, he was in his mid to late 30's looked like office worker, normal sort of attire. Just kinda surprising someone like that is a complete phsyco, goes to show you should never judge a book by its covers

It is a pity you weren't able to get the guy's details as he needs a lesson taught and would have been up for assault and reckless driving (at least) . I think the only times I have had this sort of situation have been with 4x4 drivers - it's just pig-headedness and being one myself, I just find that attitude unforgiveable. Glad you're alright!

This sort of thing seems to be happening alot recently, maybe its the winter weather or something.
Ive posted a few incidents on here that have happened to me, but luckily none of them have ever come to actuall physical blows.
Last week I was filtering down towards the blackwall tunnel, when some bloke decided to repatedly try and force me into a few stationary artics that where queing in the right had lane, puched his window a few times but he just carried on like i wasnt there, decided it was just better to get away from his asap. I just panicked and escaped. Didnt even think of getting his reg or trying to stop him or anything.
Its not really worth trying to beat the shit out of someone or give chase, your to vunerable whilst on a bike.
Ive even had a little old man get out of his car because I gave him the finger, he started pushing me whilst I was sat on my bike, I couldnt get off because I was laughing so hard and had to keep warning him that I really didnt want to hurt him, I rode off in the end, leaving him shouting in the middle of the road. Laughing

lol i would have been at a wits end about what to do to the old bloke, problem is if you hit them and hurt them you could do some serious damage and its just not worth it.

What anoys me about this bloke is that he knew i couldnt let go of my bike, i could probably have rode forward a bit out of his reach but i wanted to do something to him. Just hope i see him again, then ill do something, thing is im not one to go looking for a fight but i will allways stand my ground and if i get hit i will punch back, and its really wound me up that i wasnt able to do anything.

Most drivers will only do stuff when they think there safe, he probally only hit you when he realised you where stuck.
Imagine how much his hand must hurt after punching your helmet Laughing
Ive began to think that maybe people try it on depending on what bike you ride, I never had any hassle from people when I had the mito, perhaps because they thought Im young. Now Im on the bandit it happens quite alot, do people think Im older and wont lash out?

I had a bloke in a van call me a c*nt the other day. I was filtering down the right hand side of the traffic towards some temporary traffic lights. He shoved his arm out the window and tried to knock me off. I put my foot into his door and made a rather nice boot shaped dent. Then I turned round and went the other way. There wasn't much he could do because he was stuck in traffic. Very Happy

Strange some of the incidents here....i mean, hitting you in the head?! Trying to Push you off?!

Personally the look in my eyes when i look at a prat in a car is enough.
I'm sure the huge black ninja, black craft helmet, black leathers can look intimidating to some twat making it hard to filter. Twisted Evil

SV650S for me, my pride and joy

Anyway little bit of an update for you, went home at lunch and went through that road, turns out theres a camera there pointing in just the right direction so hopefully police can get registration.

This road is also very near my work and i noticed at lunch that there is a burgandy 4 wheel drive 5 seat pick up which looks incredably like the one in question plus has the same kinda tinted windows. Hopefully its him the registration rings a bell so gunna go cop shop tonight Very Happy

If there's a camera, was it obvious you kicked or tried to kick the car?

Why don't wait at his car round 5 o clock, and then you can see him approaching. As he approaches, take some pics of his car and him. It will be fun because A: it'll give him the serious hump B: you know have his details and he knows it C: he can't attack you there and he knows it. And if he tries... it'll just be another documented attack on you in the same day, which will strengthen any case you bring against him.

Should have taken his wing mirror off. Unless it was just out of reach.
I'd have just headbutted his fist as he went to hit you. Not gonna do anything to you, fucking hurt him though. Hopefully.

Drivers make me laugh.

Better luck to belting the guy next time.

Well there apears to be no marks on his car apart from few minor scratches but that would be hidden behind the car out of camera view.

Camera would be awsome idea actually, only have my camera phone but should still do the job. If not ill bring my own camera in tomorrow. Oh and the first attack was rush hour yesterday, forgot to mention

quickly go make a report and get the CCTV evidence , CCTV is no longer watched there isn;t enough man power for it , you have to go get it ASAP before they erase the tape or the HDD space to rerecord.

Pretty bloody scary.

I've had plenty of dirty looks and stuff but since I've been using a tinted visor I've had absolutely no problems with other angry drivers. I think it's probably because tinted visors where you can't see the face of the rider are quite intimidating... not many people will try to punch someone when they can't see who's underneath Wink

I can imagine how frustrated you must be feeling about the whole experience. That'll go with time... Just feel happy knowing that the prat probably goes home to a filthy hovel with a drug addicted wife and kids that spend most of their time in rehab.
