IMO best is to use your credit card!! even after being charged 1.75%, i found it still is a lot better then direct exchange.
And if you need cash abroad, use debit card!
Thumbs Up

The currency exchange places are normally rip-off Thumbs Down

Depends on your card issuer though doesn't it? Don't some charge more per transaction?

Google currency exchange and compare rates.

Check with your bank what they charge for cash withdrawls from a foreign cash point. Often it's a small percentage, and for the safety (and convenience) of not having to carry wedges of cash around with you a service worth using.

For large purchases use your credit card for the protection and insurance that is offered with it.

Unless you're trying to balance the National Debt. for Liberia I don't think it matters much for the hassle of it all.

Can't be much more than a fivers difference.

Let me know how much you save I'm interested.

I prefer to use the post office, but laziness tends to mean I end up using the exchange at the airport Smile

theres plenty of places to change your cash
post office in the Uk has a buy back option if you buy from them
they buy back any unused €'s and they have a good rate

you can change your money at the airports on in the Dam its self
there are a load of places on Damrak that do competetive rates

drop by the shop I work in its at 163 singel (first canal behind the palace)
right in the middle of amsterdam
