Have you taken the spark plug out and had a look at it?
Have you checked you get a spark on it against the head?
If not THAT'S where you start.... after charging the battery!
If no spark, you check the obviouse first.
Kill switch on the handlebars, and wiring too.
Side Stand Switch, & wiring to
Ignition switch & wiring too
Then you look at the fuel.
How much fuel was in it when you collected it?
No one fills a bike with petrol just before they flog it these days!
Might have had enough in to run when tested, but falling over, that 'small' amount of petrol might have been ALL that was left in the tank, not just what was in the carb float bowl!
Have you checked how much fuel is in the tank?
Have you tried it on both 'On' and on 'Res'? ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

50ml of petrol in a 125 engine?!?!
NO!
If the piston it at BDC it'll HOPEFULLY trickle straight out the exhaust port.
If not, 50cc of petrol will HALF FUCKING FILL the cylinder!
and liquid don't compress that well into a 15cc combustion chamber!
If you are going to try and diagnose a carb fault by 'flooding' the bike....
Undo the jubilee clip holding the carb on, pull the carb OFF, squirt some neat juice out of the petrol hose you have just pulled off the carb.....
1st test.....do you ACTUALLY get any fuel out? If not check tap, on/off/res, is there patrol in the tank, or is the tap or sediment bowl clogged!
2nd test, some petrol dribbled into teh reed block, then kick it over, and let the motor suck in what vapour it can.... its like an old and I mean really ancient, 'evaporator plate' or 'drip' carburettor..... but if you have the ingredients by way of compression & spark, will often suck enough to give you signs of life, briefly, as initial excess gives same effect as 'choke' getting engine going, and then it goes into 'runaway' reving to teh stops with no means of regulating the engine without carb slide.... then dies, when it runs out of teh few drips of petrol its been supplied with! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

There is a lot of nonsense in this thread.
I would do the following:
ignition off
turn fuel tap OFF
locate carb drain screw and drain the float bowl on the carb.
Remove spark plug and examine
kick bike over a few times with no plug in and the fuel off. See if fuel is ejected from the plug hole.
connect plug to plug cap. Switch ignition on. Holding the plug cap, hold the threaded part of the plug against the head or barrel so you can see the electrode.
kick bike over and see if there is a strong spark. If not replace spark plug.
Re fit spark plug
turn fuel tap to PRIME for a few seconds
Switch fuel tap to ON
attempt to start bike using a bit of choke.
If this does not work, you will then need to check that fuel is getting to the cylinder. This is a bit more complex if the bike has a vacuum operated fuel tap... ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F

No, that's why you tell newbies to do it.......
Shit rolls down hill, thats how WE learned, or mates saying 'Here just hold this against the head while I kick, will ya!"
Tried that on Snowie last week.... didn't work, she'd been had before!
Personally, I use a jump lead. Hold hex of spark plug in crcok clip one end, clip other to the swing arm spindle...
and for some OCD reason, it HAS to be the black jump lead... I get all panicky and confused if some-one uses the red one as a flying earth!?!?! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
