Time for abit of an update, i finished lacing the front wheel, the back one got done a little later on.

Fitted with modern Avon tyres.

Started work on the ignition system, decided to junk the magneto and alternator, and went for a modern ignition system all built into the genny.

I decided to modify the single row primary for a dual row from a unit construction Triumph, had to machine down the front sprocket, and take some off the clutch to get the clearance needed.

Ahh, Avon Deathsliders - tyre of choice after a painstaking restoration. Offering minimal grip in the dry, and zero grip in the wet! ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

They are modern Avon Roadrunners, tbh they grip very well indeed, ive had my boot scraping the ground on bends, so they cant be all that bad! ____________________ Current : 06 Zx10r, 07 Wr450f SM, 74 850 norton commando, 63 bsa b40, 1962 Triton 650, 67 Triumph Tr6r, 1955 Triton 750, 1978 TY250E. |

A mate of mine has Avons on his 6T Triumph and he rides it like a twat with most things scraping the floor on corners. ____________________ Suzuki GT250 x7------- Fazer 600------CB250RS------Aprilia Rally 70----- Bandit 600

going to be running a fairly low compression to start with, then once everything is bedded in ill uprate them |
That's an unusual way to go about things. Most owners would never disturb bedded-in rings if it could be avoided. |
It may even get changed to a 750 Morgo kit, reason being to give everything else chance to bed in and settle down without having to worry about the motor being over stressed.
Ive had some clearance issues in the primary as ive converted it to a dual row chain, with a unit construction clutch assy, but thats about it really, im looking at getting my tank back this week, so ill be uploading some more images, and maybe a little video.

Theres no such thing as a subframe on a featherbed as there all one piece, some of the early manx frames did but not the road going ones.
slimlines frame rails narrow towards the back, wide lines don't, most people say a slimline is better for the road (and I agree)
I have however just bought another project that is a wide line, may be another build thread on the way! ____________________ Current : 06 Zx10r, 07 Wr450f SM, 74 850 norton commando, 63 bsa b40, 1962 Triton 650, 67 Triumph Tr6r, 1955 Triton 750, 1978 TY250E. |
