Cheers Thumbs Up

Got bored.

My brother is doing a vfr rebuild now too and needs an Abba centre stand.
So I made this for myself for him to borrow

Lol could prob do a chicken or rabbit on it.

Got the RVF system on today, new studs and gaskets all round. Happy with it now but its cost me alot more time, money and effort to get it done because of its original condition.

Got the other half of the 'HRC' oil cooler finished today, wasn't much room to play with which made life a bit difficult but its done now.

Is that blueflame can made specifically for the vfr400? Reason I ask is I had one on my old vfr400, but I always thought it was too big to be standard. Question

Not sure, it came with the RVF system I bought. I assume it is correct as it has the correct fitment for the bolts and gasket etc.

Completely forgot about the state of the oil pan, my mind wouldnt allow to leave it as is so off with the exhaust.
I got a complete gasket set a while ago, so the pan got cleaned up, a coat of HT paint, a genuine HRC drilled drain bolt and zinc'd fixings. Spotted that the clutch cover never had a gasket so that also got fitted.

Also got the 'HRC' oil cooler piped up.

Cleand up the stand a tad more and got it a coat of zinc, not quite as good as the abba stand but its cost me next to nothing.
Gave it a test whirl too.

https://i475.photobucket.com/albums/rr119/Timon1983/VFR%20nc30%20trackbike/IMG_2104.jpg

Thermostat housing is also painted, will get a pic of that later

I've been following this bike, and your other project without saying anything. But I just want to say that your attention to detail is amazing, and I can't wait to see both bikes finished.

Thanks buddy Very Happy

So a bit of a feck up on my other project build (I had put the rear sprocket on the wrong way around making me think I had clearance next to the 160 section tyre. Putting it the correct way around would mean the 525 chain would hit the tyre, so for that bike I need a 520 chain).

So it meant me removing the chain and sprockets from it and putting it on this bike.

All done
https://i475.photobucket.com/albums/rr119/Timon1983/VFR%20nc30%20trackbike/IMG_2183.jpg

Front was able to put on without removing the cover

Rear sprocket on the correct way round and lockwired

Both your builds are the inspiration for my build. Specially the zinc plating, anodising and all the little bits that make it 100% new.

Quick question. Is that a did x ring chain? I was planning on using the gold x ring on mine with supersporx rear ones but the talon ones seem alot cheaper? Have you had any experiance with them both before?

cheer

Cheers Thumbs Up

No its an X ring RK chain, Talon recommended it. Seem to be ok, have used Talon in the past with no problems, havent noticed a difference between them and Renthal.

The reason supersporx ones are dearer is because they use a steel outer ring for the teeth and aluminium centre. Talon/Renthal are one piece aluminium, which of course will wear more quickly but are lighter.

A while back I picked up a riders seat off the bay for a huge sum of 99p (+£5 p&p)
Down to the fact it had two marks on it, one of them being a fag burn hole in the cover.
https://i475.photobucket.com/albums/rr119/Timon1983/VFR%20nc30%20trackbike/IMG_2199-1.jpg

My parents had a guy come round to give them a quote on reupholstering some seats for my dads boat project one evening and we got chatting.
"so you do motorbike seats too, I have a small amount of material left over from recovering my other seat, and you'll put a water-proof layer in too, £25 and you'll drop it back!"
Awesome

Had an RK chain on the Bandit, no complaints. That was a 530 transmitting 230 crank horsepower, so I don't think the 525 will struggle on a 400 Laughing

Looking damn good this fella, love that blueflame can. Would love one of those seats for my NC35 too, my plasticy vinyl is tearing a little on the back.

Also in the market for chain & sprockets, current ones were on the way out and then got shagged by winter, what sprockets did you go for there?

The chinese rads have arrived, the quality is really lacking but they are very good value. The Rick Oliver rads I have on the other bike are far superior.
Have to get some rubbers and tophats from Honda and wait for the fan to arrive and I can see how well these rads fit, although they seem to go on fairly well going by how many 400GB'ers run them now.

The rubbers and spacers arrived from Honda so managed to get some work done on the rads. The mounts are there for the oem guard (which I done have), so I cut up some grill and bolted it up, gives it kind of a road racer feel I think, maybe?

Just check you have clearance from lock to lock on the Chinese rads. It's the only problem we found at uni with the 4 sets that were bought for the bikes they've got.
