I know this sounds stupid but have you got the clutch cable adjusted correctly.
it may not be fully engaging the clutch as this tends to happen when I over tighten my cable. it will pull too a certain point then just stops revving/pullin.

or possible a dodgy CDI.

Clutch cable is sound, Sorted out the slipping clutch,

And yes, I pull her out of the garage, go for a ride, and its power, All the way to 16k ~ rpm. Then after 10 / 15 mins of riding, It breaks up while its revving out.

After some steady riding, it can be persuaded back up closer to red line, but will NOT go right the way to 16k Unless I leave it over night or for hours on end to cool RIGHT down to a Stone Cold state.

Gonna borrow some known working coils for her I think.

We had a TDM in that was fine, then when it had ran for 10 mins it would run on 1 cylidner, a coil change later was fine, get some good coils, test, if dosnt fix then i wouldnt know where else to star other than a carb check but i dont think its that.

Well, The NC29 runs sweet as now. Rings out to red line every time!
Just had 130 out of it too. Felt so good! Laughing

Bought some medium compound renthal grips and some motrax black bar ends.

Only problem is the renthal grips are too long for the little NC29 Clip ons. So ive had to cut them down. And it doesn't look so good as the bar ends have a bigger face than the grip is "around".

Must get some Harris Clip ons. And new Renthal grips at some point.

Well as most of you know, The bike had little battle scars allover it anyway from the fairings being the old ones on the back anyway. And the "new" front end fairings had scuffs etc from where they spent 6 months in my garage. Plus the fact they were VERY cheaply sprayed by the bloke who made the fairings.

So, Since I kindly got knocked off it the other day, The driver who hit me agreed to pay for the damage. She has put me onto a sprayer she knows, Who had a look at the bike today.

He actually went in my favor , Hes agreed to respray the whole front end. AND spray the "new" tail unit ive got sitting in my garage. Rather than the cracked shitty one on the bike.

The tank was sprayed last year anyway, So thats MINT. It didnt hit the floor. And this bloke is gonna spray every panel on the bike. He even said he will respray the front fender for me as its scratched! Cool

All at the Driver who hit me`s expense!

Ive been hunting high and low today for a new DB Screen and pair of mirrors. But No bike shop lists one for the NC29 and the 400gb forum is down. Sad

Ive got Motrax bar ends on. Couldn't find any Oxford ones. Went to motor world but they didn't have any.

And the only reason Ive got CRG levers is because I cant justify paying £100 for the word "pazzoracing" engraved into the lever.

Course it is.
It will come up at 8k rpm on the clutch. Dont need to yank on the bars or anything.

Been wheelieng all night up on the city estate with Keith.
got them down to about 15mph now but I keep finding myself speeding back up.

When Im due a new chain and sprockets I think im gonna go up about 3 or 4 on the back. And maybe down 1 on the front.

Would never believe it.

But it was a shit contact on the side stand switch!

I guess that the high RPM of the engine was causing it to break contact and cut the engine out.

Always wondered why it never did it in Neutral.

Just bypassed the switch. Job done. Smile
New clutch also, so means ive got my 130mph toy back! Smile

How easy is it to adjust the clutch/replace it on 400's binge?

Mines got a fair bit of play in and ive adjusted it at the lever as much as it will go so someone has il have to adjust it at the engine side.

ALso, what brake pads you using and how much were they?

I'd try adjusting it at the engine side first and then if it's still bad get a new cable.

Eddie.

No idea on the brake pads. Came in it when I bought it. Probably just the usual ones you pick up at a bike shop. I think they are like £15 a set or something. No idea.

As for the clutch, I changed it in about an hour. That included striping the belly pan off. Its a very easy job to do.

Best way to change the clutch is to get a sheet of plywood or something about 1 or 2 inches thick.
Roll the bike onto it, And then put it on the side stand. But have the stand OFF the wood, So it leans a bit further than normal.

Whip the belly pan off.

Undo all the clutch cover bolts and remove the clutch cover. Making sure you keep the clutch release rod thingey in the clutch cover. It has a habit of falling out. just make sure its in place when the cover goes back on.

Undo the 4 10mm bolts holding the release bearing plate on. remove than and the 4 springs.

Now put the bike in 6th gear.

Put a plank of wood through the rear wheel across the swing arm.

Get a 27mm (I think) socket, and ratchet. And a long mother fucking extension bar. And crack off the big nut holding the clutch in plate.

If you have an air gun or an impact wrench it makes life easier.

Pull the clutch out but make sure you try not to disturb the clutch basket.

Remove all the plates and steels. And fit the new ones in the SAME ORDER.

Then repeat the prev steps, but in reverse order to put it back together.

I used liquid gasket on my clutch cover too.

Just to add to binge's post, I've heard you should soak the new plates in clean engine oil overnight before fitting them - could somebody clarify this?

Meant to allow the oil to get into the plates better or something.

Indeed, people seem to think that just for that one night, your clutch plates will act like a sponge and make them uber lubed. As opposed to a quick greaseup before fitting.

Quick update.

Fairings are all stripped down and boxed up ready for the sprayers.
Ive also chucked my Rear hugger in the box to be painted. He said he will do it within the price.
So when it comes back, everything will be colour coded.

Im just trying to get this finished off before thursday because if I do, it will be painted with the fairings and cost me nothing.

If I dont finish it in time, It will cost me about £30 (not a problem really) but id like it sprayed with the same bottle of paint which he mixes up.

Its a single seat cowl.

Ive still got a long way to go but my compressor at home isnt really beefy enough to power my air sander. So will carry on with it tomorrow at work.

Ive basically fiberglassed over an old pillion seat. So when I fit it, It will still flip open like the seat so I can access the boot space in the tail.

And the good old pillion pegs fold right away on the NC29. So I can convert it into a single seater by swapping the seat for the cowl.
2 x 10mm bolts.

I also got my pipes off yesterday and sprayed them black. They are tarting to go through on the headers though, So keeping my eye out for a stainless set.

quick pic of her yesterday before I took all the fairings off.

I also need a new screen and there are no Double bubbles on ebay at the moment. Sad
