i bought a house at the start of this year so that and our works race program is nailing all my time (not to mention having to do actual work as well!)

when ive finished building my garage and decorating the house normal service will be resumed.

not really super awesome turbo related but i treated myself to a few new tools for christmas.

a wolf vr5 valve refacer;

and a "flowperformance" flowbench from the states. haven't taken any pics of it, but i've half fabricated a new enclosure for it so it sort of doubles as a work bench.

heres what the output looks like on my laptop. you basically take snapshots and adjust how much the valve/s are open between each capture. it then auto logs to excel.

if i wanted to be really clever i could link it to a dti with a data output and combine the two for a larger data set.

the main reason for buying them is for develoment work on this seasons head for the works car (that was the least developed component last season) but i think it would be interesting to stick an 1100 head on and see what i can do.

and just to keep the magpies happy, nothing to do with turbos but here's something shiny.

Are we supposed to be playing guess the part here?

If so my guess is that is a fancy billet cam drive cover for either a Ford crossflow or an Austin A-series motor?

close. its a timing chain case for a tr4 motor. allows us to play with the cam timing with the engine in the car. also gives clearance for the new cct i designed. the original was just a piece of spring steel pressing on the chain!

it'll look like this when done:

the new one is a few hundred grams lighter and has a couple of small dimensional adjustments.

did a bit today.

it always annoys me how time gets eaten up by nothing. all i did today was cut 2 busa spindles in half, face them off, machine a plug to go in the middle, weld them together and put the wheel back on.

and suddenly 2 hours was gone.
