you don't / can't need buttons on the bandit clutch.

Cheers for the pic Chr15. Is it just a case of bolting it in? I.E from what I can see the arms just flap, no adjustment as such?

Also I have a boost gauge on the way so I can see what the turbo is up to, is it possible to fit the t piece in The pipe that runs between the wastegate and plenum, or will that give a false reading?

there's several ways to adjust it, but for what your using the bike for, you shouldn't really need to faff with it.

pretty much just pull the big nut out, swap the centre cup for the lockup centre cup, do the nut back up, refit the pushrod top hat, lifter plate and circlip, then bolt the lockup unit on top.

use some loctite on the socket caps that hold the lockup on. you really don't want them coming out.

shouldn't do, no.

is it a glycerin damped gauge?

It doesn't actually say on the description. If it turns out to be shite I'll just swap it for another one. 'Difficult' (i guess difficult might be a strong word) bit is the actual fitting, swapping the guage on the end of the pipe should be fairly easy Laughing

The clutch interests me, how can it be otherwise adjusted then? Change the weights/length of arms? Can a different weight be used on each arm to control the gradual increase of lock up?

different weights, you do them in opposite pairs.

the weights controls the starting rpm and force of the lock up effect.

so if you have 2 heavy and 2 light, the lockup will activate in 2 stages, but it isn't really useful unless your trying to perfect your 60ft times lol

the air gap is another thing to mention, when you fit it, make sure you can pull the clutch, without the pressure plate grounding out on the lockup spider. there should be a gap of like 1.8mm IIRC between the 2 faces with the clutch in its normal state.

Interesting to know. I like fiddling.

Don't take that out of context.

Thanks for the heads up. Can that be adjusted or is it a wear issue? My motor has done about 30k miles and the clutch basket is probably a bit tired. The faces might have started eating each other.

its more to do with the pack height of the clutch, depending on how thick all the frictions and steels are, determines the air gap. to adjust it, you either shim the spider out, or play with a load of frictions and steels to build a pack that gives you a correct air gap.

My mate rode it today. He went to get milk from the shop around the corner and came back 20 minutes later with most of the fuel missing and with a face like this:

https://img441.imageshack.us/img441/3492/fuuuuuutrollfacelaunchs.jpg

He also said he wanted one, which I took to mean it was good.

Also new way of transferring money quite a bit faster into the governer:

Cheers Wafer, come to the Isle of Wight and have a pop. Wink

Finished off the undertray today, and got the other body panel on.

Soldering up...

https://img705.imageshack.us/img705/9108/12281101512731493834855.jpg

All finished, my potato malfunctioned, sorry.

https://img713.imageshack.us/img713/6948/31578101512731490134851.jpg

At night, speaking of menacing...

https://img13.imageshack.us/img13/9172/30604210151273148813485.jpg

Changed the plugs, topped the larger clutch case up with oil and went for a ride.

It is, quite frankly, bloody ludicrous. The first three gears are useless. Now the clutch doesn't slip i'm going to have to tow a trailer with my own supply of tyres and a tyre machine. That and chains.

Got distracted whilst christmas shopping and ordered me up a 6 inch Gix thou rim, suitable bearings and a 150 link non o-ring drag chain to see me through the winter build. Also found a suitable part worn 190 Pirelli diablo corsa to destroy in the garage at Pete's.

Much win, just so much...

That drz 530 chain is no good for the road. Yes it's strong but the wear rate will be fantastic. Mine is jumping the sprockets after 100 miles.

Oooooooooh feisty. Ah well we'll see how it goes on mine. To be honest I don't think I've done a hundred miles since I've had the bike back.

Oooooooh.

All I need are some spacers made up and we'll be banging along nicely.

A new, longer, wider, brighter future for the rear end!

I'm considering replacing the knackered tyre on the rim with a 200 section. I've seen it done on a 6" rim and it doesn't look too bad in profile, and looks badass on the bike. I will wait and see how much room I have clearance wise with regards to chain/tyre first though.

Should be a lot easier now.

I didn't get any pics of me doing all the bearing swaps into and out of the rear wheel, because to be frank I was doing all the bearing swaps into and out of the rear wheel.

Sorry for the potatography.

Essentially, it goes bearings with outer diameter of gixxer rim and inner diameter to match Bandit axle into gixxer rim, sprocket carrier bearing with outer diameter of gixxer hub and inner diameter of Bandit axle into Gixxer hub, Bandit disc onto gixxer rim, shaving of the Bandit caliper bracket to allow space for gixxer hub, then lining up of sprockets, then custom spacers...

Or hopefully anyway.

And yes, I know the chain is slack. It was later removed with mr. grinder, causing many happy sparks.
