PostPosted: 15:56 - 09 Nov 2012    Post subject: KTM 400 stolen from tankersley last night Reply with quote

I'm posting this on behalf of my brother.

He went to work last night on his KTM 400 which was stolen from the car park at his workplace down near McDonalds in tankersley.
He thinks it was taken between 10.30pm and 1.00am and is still in the area (tankersley, pilley, hoyland common)

We've searched the wooded areas around where he works but haven't seen any tyre tracks anywhere indicating the bike was rode/pushed on the roads.
The bike is a 2004 KTM 400, usual bright orange panels but with a "bad boy" sticker kit on all the panels. Has a huge 56 on the rear right panel. The bike also had a brand new akrapovic exhaust system bought only a few days ago, as well as a brand new set of excel talon rims.

If anyone has seen anything, please contact me or my brother (baldy forum username)

Any help would be great and there may be a reward for the finding/return of the bike.

Rubbish Thumbs Down It's just up the road from me so I'll keep and eye out. A few weeks ago some scrotes came razzing up our road on KTM's with no plates so I'll keep my eyes peeled if they come past again.

I think Kickstart's Mrs had her bike nicked from there a few years ago, too. Which carpark was it, the bank or one of the office ones?

My brother works for pilkington glass, his bike was taken from the rear car park near the fire station.

If you could do that mate that'd be great, he's absolutely gutted after spending well over a grand on it in the last 2 weeks

Contact number is 07873511414

Cheers

Few more additional 'unique' parts...

Has the rear tail tidy kit, the exhaust is VERY loud and the frame itself is gloss black (we painted it last week)
Badboy sticker kit covers pretty much all the bike except the swingarm.

We'll be heading down to tankersley/pilley tomorrow and have a ride round, hopefully break some c**ts fingers if we get lucky.

Fingers crossed it turns up... police are useless as always.

I'm going to be in Kendray in about half an hour and then in Dodworth in about an hours time. I'll keep my eyes and my ears open.

What security did he have on it? Or did he spend all his money on the exhaust?

Lovely looking bikes but chav magnets especially in a shithole area.

It was my bike that was stolen. I had only just rebuilt it after spending over a grand buying new parts. After 2 days of riding it less than five miles to and from work it got nicked.

I need this bike back so I am willing to offer a decent reward and a free 125cc bike to the person or people that get it back or help me get it back.

I can give frame and engine numbers by request if needed, but I don't think putting them online is such a smart idea.

That picture was taken before I rebuilt it so its a little different now. It still has the same stickers but the frame is now black, the hangards are orange, the right engine casing is gold, it has a brand new stainless front pipe with a new akraprovic titanium silencer. It also has a brand new rear wheel with stainless spokes front and back and a new orange ktm chain.

I will try to find a recent pic but I don't think I took one in the few days I had it done.

Any help or info is much appreciated and will be generously rewarded.

Thanks,
Phil.

I have a huge chain but I forgot it as I was in a rush. It was parked in works secure car park that has a gate and lots of CCTV, but the cameras saw nothing and the gate was left open by the previous shift.

How did CCTV catch nothing? You sure it wasn't an inside job? Gate left open on purpose? Do you trust the people you work with?

You left a bike that can be walked up to and started with no keys in a carpark at night with no security and out of view of CCTV?

I know it isn't what you need to here now but you only have yourself to blame I don't even leave my KTM520 unattended at the petrol pump.

You probably won't want to hear this, but I honestly doubt you will ever see this bike again.

Count them stickers as gone, as will the serials and number plates be gone.

Will of been trashed around the nearest council estate and dumped, only to be picked up by someone else and stripped and sold on eBay.

Happens near me, have three rubbish areas near me. Evil or Very Mad

I put a heavy duty lock on my bike, when I'm just going to be five minutes in my local shopping centre. But I know it will go walking, as it's a high motorbike theft area. They'll even steal a 50CC moped. Rolling Eyes

Thanks for all the positive replies. I know I should have chained it up but that isn't going to help me now. There is a big chance I won't ever see it again but I like to think positive.

I have thought about it being an inside job or even someone I know, but apart from coincidence, I have no proof.

I can only hope I catch the bastards that took it so i can go to prison with a big grin on my face and a bike in my garage.

Keep up the good work, big rewards to whoever helps me find it.

Thanks,
Phil.

P.s. I don't work at maca d's, I'm actually a little offended at that. If I worked there, I wouldn't be able to afford a ktm to get nicked in the first place.

Hope you get it back and get to pull the fingers and toes off whoever stole it with rusty pliers. As an aside this is exactly why I purchased off this fine ere forum a second hand 2m Almax IV chain and SS65cs from a fine chap. To leave at work so I don't forget to bring a chain with me, I keep one here in my office.
