Hey there guys, My name is Sam, I'm 18 and I own a KTM Duke 125 (2013 ABS)

Me and a mate have recently purchased a 1987 Honda CB125 BEAUTIFUL BIKE! This is a restoration project we hope to accomplish with little money as possible, this will be the first project I have done. We paid £275 for the bike running, V5, keys, a brand new 2 into 1 Motad exhaust still in box, Haynes manual, full gasket kit and new rear break shoes! it was a steal for that cash so we couldn't miss the opportunity! it has a 150cc bore kit on it at the moment but we are hoping to reduce it back to its original 125cc, as we stand at the moment the first step was to strip it down to a bare frame after we stood around admiring this beautiful machine for a while, our next step is to re-paint the frame and start sorting the swing arm and get it to a rolling frame and continue with the restoration process. We are taking picture as the magic happens and I will personally keep you up to date with the progress!

Any questions at all I will be happy to ask to the best of my ability Smile

Ride safe everyone.
-RestorationNoob.

You're probably going to receive an enormous wall of text from Teflon Mike; he's spent a lot of time in the company of CB125s of that vintage.

It's going to be scary when you see it, trust me, but my advice is grab a coffee, make yourself comfortable and read it. If he knows anything about anything it's raising CBs from the dead.

Welcome to the site, I look forward to following another restoration.

Tut Tut Nope... MY turn to grab a coffee, sit-back, relax and watch some other masocist suffer! Wink

I'll step in with a wall of text, to make him suffer some more, when he's REALLY starting to suffer; probably when he's wondering what to do with back suspension, or set up the carbs Laughing

[titter] Ah the hopes and dreams of youthful nievity! (unsaid thinks: poor, poor deluded fool! He's probably beyond help, even now....)

Well, if he had PAID you £275 to take on his 'problems' THAT would have been a steal..... You have just BOUGHT some-one else's PROBLEMS.... and in your youthful nievity and optimism, YOU see in your head, the nice, tidy, running bike you expect it to become for very little money, and a little graft in a few weeks time... where the seller saw the bike as in front of you, coloured by the experience of spending lots of cash on bits that STILL haven't turned it into what they originally hoped for whenever they started! BUT, you are buying learning, kid... it's all good fun, cheaper than recreational drugs, though effects on long-term mental health can still be as damaging Laughing

I shall offer one bit of advice though.... whilst stripped... use electrolysis to clean the petrol tank; then stump up £50 for a POR15 kit from Frost Restorations; follow instructions in the kit diligently, to clean, treat and line the tank; and then leave it, to 'cure' a full ten days before even thinking of putting petrol in it.

Expensive; time consuming and awkward, (like most projects!) BUT... when it comes to getting the thing up and running, you wont appreciate it, 'cos you just wont have all the hassle having to keep taking carbs off to clean the float-bowls and jets, and probably wrecking the unobtainium carb mounting rubbers in the process!

Otherwise; best of luck with it; I shall follow with interest, and a cup of coffee! Laughing
