hey, i'm having a motad nexxus fitted to my kawasaki gpz500s today as the stock down pipes have blown in about 3 places Sad
it's the 2-1 system, i was just wondering if anyone knew what difference this new exhaust system would make?
will there be much of a power increase? i understand it will be lighter but that wont make much difference...
and will it sound cooler than the stock one? lol
thanks alot

It's a direct replacement for the original. You will not notice any significant difference in power. The sound will be altered a little, but not much.

On a technical note. When you fit the exhaust, it comes pretty close to the belly pan on the right hand side. Close enough to melt it. The thing to do is to put maybe three washers between the belly pan and the bottom right mounting bracket to make it stand-off a few mm.

If it is still too close, you will find it is fairly easy to bend both the lower bellypan brakets slightly to one side (they are quite flimsy). Doesn't need much, just enough to have an air gap of 10mm or so between the pipe and the plastic.

I fitted a 4 to 1 onto my Divvy recently and it cured the monster roar from the holes in the old system along with smoothing out the mid-range power delivery somewhat.

Not much but definitely noticable.

Also, fitting after market exhausts supposedly makes a bike run leaner, so you might need to adjust the fuel mix a bit to compensate (if the power feels off...)

Yeah I fitted a Lazer Jama 4 into 2 on my divvy to replace the knackered originals.
Fitting was simple and sounds made was slightly different but not a roar by any means.

And as Krbsey said mine was running leaner so I adjusted the mixture and also balanced the carbs. All running very nicely now Smile

I fitted a Motad Nexxus to my GPZ in 2005, and it seemed to smooth out the flat spot alittle, and also made it run slightly leaner too I think.

Though it sounded nicer and was alot lighter than the twin originals.

yes have had it fitted, looks so much better, left side looks a little naked though because of what im used to Laughing hehe. seems to run so much smoother, and sounds alot nicer...but last exhaust was nackered so a hose pipe and a coke can probably would have done.
thanks!

What stinkwheel means by "direct replacement", is that this system is designed to be, well a direct replacement. Ie. it will not give any substantial power gain over the standard system, and will not require re-jetting. Aftermarket performance systems usually do require re-jetting, but this system (like all motads as far as im aware) is designed to replace rotten exhausts, rather than a performance part. Thumbs Up

the Nexxus isn't a race system, it's an aftermarket replacement. It doesn't need any rejetting,.

I had a Nexxus on my GPZ before I crashed it. I've still got my uberloud Muzzy Ti race system for the GPZ500 in the garage Very Happy
