Hi everyone,

As Im sure you know Ive just finished rebuilding my cb125 and starting to run it in.

Just for reference I have changed the rings and the valve stem oil seals.

Today I decided to check the engine oil level and its gone down a fair bit, I estimate its probably burnt/lost around half on the dipstick in around 40-50miles. Does the engine burn oil while wearing the rings in?, or have I still got a problem somewhere Sad

It doesnt look anywhere near as smokey as It used to which I guess is good.

Thanks for your time Smile

Yeah, it'll probably burn a fair bit of oil until the rings are bedded in and have sealed themselves properly. I presume you honed the barrels before fitting the new rings. If you didn't, the rings will take a fair bit longer to bed in to the exact profile of the barrel.

Remember, you've had the top-end off too. A fair proportion of your first fill of oil will have been pumped up there and will be lurking about in the rocker area and oilways.

Thanks for the prompt reply stinkwheel, the barrels were indeed rehoned. I have topped it up and plan to go out for a ride over the weekend Smile

After about 50 miles you should see a vast improvement and then at the 100 mark it should all be normal, just make sure there are no leaks and you'll be sound
