For 3k you will be able to get a CBR Sport on a 2001 plate privatley. They look a bit sportier than the standard CBR if that floats your boat. You won't be able to get a RR for that sort of moola.

Ally framed, 1999 onwards.

1999 and 2000 are carbed, 2001 onwards are fuel injected.

Bugger all other changes, other than the paintschemes and the headlights so don't get sucked into 'newer must be better', just go with a good condition one for your budget.

I'm personally going for the CBR F Sport when i get mine, i've sat on one and it suits my frame really well.

Its the middle ground between the F versions and the RR versions.

Although in a bike CBR issue of ride, they had a quote that said something along the lines of "The CBR600 is the greatest sportsbike ever... The UK's 40,528 owners can't be wrong."

Best way is to try them out to see which is best for you

nsr. be careful (i am not patronising) that your heart dosnt rule your head when deciding on the sport. the standrd cbr600f Very Happy has the same engine and performance albeit with a kilo or two heavier as it has the proper pillion seat, center stand (which is priceless imho) more clours to choose Embarassed (lol) and less appealing to theeves coz it is not a fashionable!

the mods the s has (extra clutch plate, lower 6gear ratio i think) are marginal.

just my twopenneth and i hope you dont mind Wink

I'm not bothered on centre stands as I have paddock stands already. I just prefer the F-Sport to the F version, I don't take passengers because I don't like it, tried it before and it just didn't feel right. As for colours I like the Red/Black and White/Navy, hardest thing is choosing which colour. My bike is always kept safe as it is now, as was my GS before I gave it to my brother, so i'm very security conscious aswell.

NSR paddock stand wont help you if you break down or need to adjust your chain while out and about. With regards to pillions you will end up taking them, if its a sunday bike for blasting about then go for the sport version, my bike will do about 150-160 which is fast enough for me (imo) if you want speed/sport look at the fireblade RR that will be my next bike. I do know what u mean but i dont really mind not having one, thats what breakdown cover is for.

I want a fireblade, in about 4 years, as i'll have full ncb so will be cheaper and i'll be older.

I decided on the F sport and am buying one in december next year.
