Whats the biggest beastiest ~500cc Sportsbike?

Right!
Its time to enlist help from you all, dont give me this "use the search function pish" because i have my own preferances. I basicly need the biggest know what is the biggest(physically) sports bike you all know. Not too big either, probably 400cc-600cc idealy as it will be 33bhp restricted anyhow! Reason im asking is that im a very big lad (>6ft3) Today i sat on a GPZ750, ZXR700, ZXR 636 and a GSXR1000...all too small for me. Though the CBR900RR that we have in the garage is just a tiny iota too small for me, though i could deal with it.

Im willing to go for a trailie, i'll be buying a Suzi DRZ400 if i cant get a sports bike.

I recommend it all too often, but try and sit on a Thundercat. They're physically bigger than most sports bikes like the GSXR, I'm 6'2" and find it plenty big enough.

How about a TDM800 or trx? both scareyly fun and with the taller rider in mind (@5'8 i'd struggle on the tdm) there half trillie and half sports bike (95% roadbike though really)

Maybe an africa twin or triumph tiger?

Can allways alter the seats and jack them up if ones a little bit too short..

GPZ500 is 60BHP
ER5 ought to be since the engine is the same

CB500SS (double S as the single S is just a bikini fairing) , is a 70BHP beastie which looks identical to a CB500S

reading it again you want a physically big bike , get a Bros 650 , those beasties are based on the enourmous NTV650 which requires the rider to be big 'n' beefy , lacking the shaft drive the collector box , and the single sided swing arm its pretty fast.

I would say something like a big supermoto, lots of room with not too much power, a Yamaha XT660 might be about right?

how about a zzr600

they feel bigger than most 600 supersports even though they have a lower ride hight. im around 6ft and mine about right size.
i think they suit the huskier gentelman(or lady)!

only group 13 insurance in full trim and there are a few knocking around in 33bhp restricted form.

they do look a little dated now but they still go like stink. and munch miles with ease and comfort.

So far out of peoples suggestions i could consider:
XT660, ZZR600, RD550LC or the TRX
How easy do you recon these bikes will be restricted for a 33bhp license holder with only a years NCB (i hope )

6 foot 3? There was a 6 foot 4" minimoto champion a couple of years ago so I can't see too many problems with big bikes if you're shorter than he was.

You say they're too small but which part, what's too small?

I'm 6'1"/2" I can't remember exactly. I ride a restricted 1998/99 R6 and I find the seat height etc. quite reasonable. Its quite well proportioned and is big enough for me to feel comfortable on. It rides ok restricted, but I look forward to next august when I derestrict it. It is a good laugh, and I chose it because it gives me the experience of the handling of a 600 sports bike and the brakes etc, that way the only thing I've got to get used to when my 2 years are up is the power hike (33 to 100, woo!) I think its better this way because its less to take on board when the time comes to derestrict it.

RD's and RG's are for two stroke junkies with plenty of cash, and for those who nothing else will do. They are not fashionable, or massively fast compared to todays 600's (in std form), or even semi decent handling.

No novice/restricted license rider would want or be comfortable riding one, and yes they would just end up fouling up plugs at 33bhp. It takes ages and a bit of luck after firing up an RG500 to get all four stingers smoking, and they must be ridden hard or they will splutter and smoke til they foul up plugs and cut out.

500cc 4cyl 2strokes are definately not what you want. But im willing if anyone has one of these unwanted unfashionable RD500 motors lying around, to take it off their hands, and then slot it into a TDR250 frame, and then ride it around everywhere seeing as no one else would want to!

The early GSXR k models are quuite roomy.

Do you know what you want out of a bike? Because there's a massive difference between a 600cc sports bike and a 400cc enduro style bike.

What i want out of a bike is performance. The only reason i mentioned the DRZ is because its a decent sized engine with a decent sized frame enough for to fit me on it! But i'd like to ride around on a sports bike for a few years (might stick to them, dunno) i want speed, performance and lean, along with the nice factor, you tend to find that sports bikes are easier to get parts for aswell. As a reference for size i currently ride an Aprilia RX50, which is barely big enough for me! Ideally i need something with a high seat height and a good distance between the seat and the pegs.

yeah but would you buy an SV or a hyosung? Suzi has been making bikes for years made mistakes corrected them and competes in WSB (dunno about motoGP) , while Hyosung are the new kids on the block and comparatively are probably like Hyundai in the 80s having to use old Ford technology.

Your problem isn't your size, it's flexibility. I'm 6'5 and have absolutely no problem on a GPz750 (not the sportiest of machines), in fact the only bike I can think of in recent years that I've had trouble sitting on comfortably was an R6 with rearsets. Buy whatever takes your fancy then get used to it

In short, you'll find very little in the world of "perfomance" or "sportsbikes" that has any real distance between the seat and pegs. That very riding position is part of what makes them a sportsbike.

A) No way in hell will it stay restricted that long.

B) Im 6'4 and i used to poddle round happily on a suzuki goose 350 and a Derbi Gpr 50, both TINY bikes.

C) I find my cbr 600 (96) to be more then roomy enough.
