I know the theory is that you can use a photo ID European driving licence, but I don't know anyone who's done this recently.

We're off to Amsterdam tomorrow and my brother can't find his damn passport. He has a photo ID driving licence apparently, but I bet that's out of date cos he doesn't drive.

Muppet. Neutral

Anyhow - anyone done it? Been through passport control without a passport?

Confused I used to work as ground staff at Birmingham International. I know back then you could use photo ID to Ireland, but AMS a bit iffy?

Its not too bad when your coming back if you have lost it as they will send you back to here.

Tell him to keep hunting. When did he last go on hol? Is it in the bag he took?

His bag is currently in Spain with our parents. They borrowed it from him. Laughing

This is because he leaves everything to the last minute. FFS. he was planning to come up to us tomorrow, and he says, "the latest train I can get is at 11.00".

Err - no. The flight is at 7:45pm tomorrow. Two hour check-in. It's a 4 hr train journey on a good day, then there's transport from the station to our place. And the journey to the airport.

On a bad day - train journey can be up to 9 hours with delays. He ain't going to make it I think. Silly man. Rolling Eyes

Thomson Fly. It's a mixed group rather than with the lads. we go every year, so it's not like he doesn't know what to do Confused

Honestly - what a fool! I reminded him last week re passport too, so if he'd looked for it then he could have done something about it - like get it couriered from Spain if that's where it is.

Hi,

As far as I can tell you need a passport. I think you maybe a person down.

You can queue at the passport office to get one still I think, it costs an arm and leg extra though and he would need all the gumpf by which time he will have proabably found his passport.

Regards
C

Panic over - he's found it now! Cool

Thanks for all the replies! Most useful. And you're right - it's internal flights only - outside UK y'need a passport or an official EU ID Card.

Did lots of searching on government web sites. Smile

When me and my bro and dad went to france for our biking holiday, we are sat at passport control (both ways) on our bikes with helmets on, they take the passport off you open it up, looked at it, then you with ya helemt on and went ok off you go!

How chuffing pointless, you cant ID someone properly from their eyes!
