Passed my test a week ago (DAS) but still on my humble 125 (CBR), went shopping for a lid and gloves on Sat but my S.O. was not up to trying it then (well it was pissing it down) Sunday I searched the loft and found my old bike jacket (thats never seen a bike before) that I used to wear to the pub 11 years ago and we got her into the new lid and gloves and a pair of boots and I took of the rear cowl and replaced it with the seat.

Went through the checklist I found on one of the websites about not getting on till I say and not to fidget around too much. Watch the exhaust, lean with me but dont over lean etc.. by the end I think I nearly put her off so I said we'll go for a mile and pull over and see how we both feel. She put her foot on the peg and arm on my sholder and swung her leg over, the bike pulled slightly to the left but not as bad as I thought it would be, then I tentativly pulled away. So far so good but we reached out first bend and I was shitting myself, just felt we were going to topple over (silly now I know but at the time) but confidence began to grow and I pulled over and we chatted. We were both ok with each other so a 20mile trip to stourport commenced.

The bike accelerated very well much much better than I had anticipated but I lost around 10-15 mph off the top end so on the NSL roads we could only manage mid-lower 60mph and overtaking was a no no but filtering was just as easy as if she wasnt there. Put my hands on her knees and they stuck out less than my own so it easy. I used a lot more engine breaking and much slower breaking as I didn't fancy being headbutted.

She really has the bug now though as she wanted to go out again on monday so we went to Stratford. She loves the whole nodding thing that comes with biking and is looking to get her own jacket (I bought her the lid and gloves)

She passed her car test a year ago so se doesnt want to get into biking just yet but I wonder if that may change when I can afford to get myself a weekend toy (GSXR600) and my weekday 125 becomes available at the weekend. Just hope she doesn't expect to come out with me every time now....think I just lost my freedom... bugger Rolling Eyes

Cool, it's good that she enjoyed it - it's much better that way than her hating bikes!

Oh, and your post could really use some paragraphs Smile

I never have any problems with my girlfriend on the back (arms around waist). It's a bit more tricky nowadays when I have the top box attached, as she leans back onto it (it doubles as a backrest for pillion). That completely alters the centre of gravity. Still managable though Thumbs Up

YAY... GO NAKED

I've tried a number of times taking people on the back and I really don't like it. Maybe I need to do it for longer journeys to get used to it.

I sat pillion a couple of weeks ago for the first time since passing my test. I've become the worst pillion ever. I was so scared! When the bike was banked over I was trying to climb the other way! In future if I can't be in the pilots seat and have full control of the idiot lights then I'll opt to walk Confused

i hate the extra weight when you go round a roundabout in the wet.

feels like the bikes going to lowside Sad.

that was with the ex-girlfriend on the back on the gsxr400 as well.

not to sure about taking pillion on the thundercat as its heavy enough on it's own.

Actually it might sound strange but my iccle 125 felt more planted in the wet going round corners with the s.o. on the back kinda how I felt on my DAS on the CBF500

Yeah I agree, I take my mate pillion to Squires and he holds onto me as he doesn't like the grabrails at the back, and I found that it's significantly better than when my other mate of about the same weight held onto the grabrails because it feels like a bus when he does that. But I managed fine. When the pillion leans over at low speed I thought it was gonna topple over Laughing Never sworn so much in one sentence Laughing
