right well i gave up job hunting for a while becuase it was becoming hopeless....mainly becuase of the bad time i was going threw

feelin better now, due to regular visits to the gym and improved diet

jus nailed an interview, becuase i passed the phone interview which sprung up on me outa nowhere when i was jus enquiring bout the job, but somehow i blagged it

i have the actual interview and some assesments on my team work and sales capabilities on friday

its a call centre job, sellin insurance to customers who call in, none of tht outband sh*t we all hate.

think basicly we jus giv them quotes and then try and sell them it.

was lookin for advice on :

a) what personal qualities should i portray myself with?
b) what questions should i ask?
c) should i go out my way and do research on the company?
d) anything else that might help with the teamwork/sales assements

its one of those jobs that comes with full training, so expierince isnt necesary, and the hours are sh*t...... jus lookin for some £££ at the moment rly, i have better plans for myself for the future.....jus wana drag a half decent payed job out for a couple years.

Thanks to all who help

you all know im generous with my "helpful ratings" Smile

Ok... do you know if it's a competency-based interview? if it is they should have given you (in the job description) a list of say 2-3 main competencies they are looking for...
If not, good one's to use are:

Bringing Innovation to problem solving
How you have dealt with problems that have occurred in previous jobs, going the extra mile with your customers, maybe you have had an awkward situation where you have had to liaise with other departments to come to an end result that benefits all concerned.

Team working
Have you helped a workmate learn theyre job? or have you stood in for someone while they were away? have you done something to improve morale while you were in a workplace, or been on say a staff satisfaction panel?

Another good tip to remember where customer service is concerned is that your customers are not just the people on the phone, they are also colleagues from any department that you might have to deal with, so customer service extends long after putting down the phone!

Remember to answer your questions using full sentences, use examples and make sure that each example has a beginning, middle and end,
(What the situation was, what you did, and what the outcome was because of your actions)
Expand on your examples by adding:

What was your specific role?
How did you decide which task to do first?
How did the outcome affect your company?
What could you have done differently?
How has that experience affected the way you conduct…today?

A good rule of thumb is that if the interviewer asks you more about your examples, you're not putting enough information into them, so pay attention too!

I wouldn't worry about doing research on the company itself, Maybe a little background info on the products it sells, but chances are that as it is a call centre they're used to having people with no previous experience in the field.

Hey... what you worrying about? you'll fly through it!
Sorry for babbling but I hope this helps! Very Happy

Fraid I have no advice to offer as I'm in the same boat as you, but I was just wondering if you could tell me how much this job is paying you, if you don't mind?

aryt well ive had it, and the interview was more basic then i 1st thot.

i think i was confident and gave good answers and examples to most of the questions

the group assesment was a simple self-introduction to all of the other applicants...i think mine was better than most.

the only bad things i done was : i possibly could of been talking too fast and couple questions questions i left some sentences hanging

they said they'l decide wat job im best suited for, i did mention that i wanted to work for the insurance company, they said they contact me tonight or within 48hours, im guessin if its not tonight its a no no.

well fingers crossed now, im off to my part time job now, i jus hope i dont get outband calls, especialy not during the worldcup Evil or Very Mad
