Option 1
I take the test on my 125 and it only costs me the test fee
Downside I am restricted to a bike below 33BHP or I have to shell out to have a bigger bike restricted.

Option 2
I pay aboout £400 for 3 days training I don't need in order to use a 500cc bike

By the way what does it cost to have a bike un restricted, or is it easy to do yourself.

Just out of interest, how old are you?

I personally did the DAS route, as I didn't fancy having to pay out £200 odd to get a bike restricted when I bought it (being the mechanical newbie I was then).

Do you know anyone with a DAS capable bike that would let you borrow their bike to practice in a car park and then do your test on? As there is no difference in the two tests apart from the power difference.

From a saftey point it might be best to do the normal test and get a 33bhp bike - Yeah, right!

Go for DAS, I would be doing it myself if I could afford it

I think a 2 stroke 125 is plenty good enough for fun and plenty of people ride them unrestricted on a CBT. A 125 4 stroke is ok as a commuter.

I think its only worth doing the das if you have money to spare, and your restrictors are gonna fall out.

I wdnt have done a DAS to be able to have a slightly faster commuter (250 or 500) but I did have a bit of cash and fancied a 600 sports bike.

Dont assume you will pass the 125 test without lessons, even if you are fine on the road.

pay the extra and go DAS

Well worth it in the long run, do u really want to be restricted to only 33bhp? when you could have a license to ride anything u want!

Go DAS Very Happy Thumbs Up

Save £400 & don't bother with restrictions. Extra £400 to spend on a 500cc. But if you do have the money to spare then do DAS.

I did the same as you I was 32 bought a 125 and did it on that passed, cost me nowt etc.

However the 33bhp limits your bike choice, sort of wish i'd done the DAS, not like i'm fussed for doing another test. Only 10months to go.!!

I wish that I went the DAS route, wish i thought that through about saving the £200 on restriction and put it toward the DAS, guess I thought too negativley.

Still you can ride any bike you want restricted, acceleration on my my GSX750F scares me sometimes and the top end fades out at about 90mph though.
