cant forsee an alarm being of any benefit on a TPO policy as that will only cover you if you hit someone (i.e the 3rd party) and an alarm wont stop that from happening.
IF it was a TPFT (fire and thieft) quote it would begin to make some difference provided it is a professionally installed and industry recognised alarm.
Hope that helps

alarms are ok if your battery is good, put one on a bike with a weak battery and you will get fed up of bumping it every morning.
A cat1 Thatchman approved alarm would reduce my insurance by £5 a year. ____________________ If you dont like the way that I ride.......Stop trying to keep up!!! |

i just brought one off ebay n fitted it tonight, i only got it as deterant cos i always use alarmed disk lock and steering lock but it is something so if theives see me pull up lock it AND set and alarm may stop them, but no amount of safe guarding will prevent someone nicking it if they really want it..... ____________________ [CBT - passed 29.04.06] [Theory - passed 19.05.06 *34/35*] [DAS - passed 09.06.06]

I fitted an alarm, only use it when the bike is outside my house, so if anyone touches my baby I'll be out there like a shot to sort them out.
Haven't told the insurance company cause I doubt it would make a difference.
I do sleep easier at night though ____________________ 2004 Suzuki GS500F > 2006 Suzuki SV650S

i bought a talking alarm immobiliser off ebay for £28. didn't lower the insurance quote i got.
tbh it's there for peace of mind for me, and in some ways does have the visual deterrant as there's a little LED on the back of the bike that blinks on and off. i also wanted an alarm, as everyone must know how cumbersome it can be to take out the big chain and padlock everywhere, and be arsed to put it on take it off. where as with the alarm, it's just a button and it's locked or unlocked.
also, it's fairly damn sensitive. had the alarm set, and put the chain through the back wheel thinking it wouldn't do anything, and it started telling to get away and my sisters friends wanted to know what it sounded like whilst i was out, so they started smacking the seat, big mistake
go for it |

my main reason would not be to lower the insurance, but how well it works, how loud it is and if it has pressure sensors, mecury switches ect.
i want it loud so it wakes me up fast so i can get outside with the shotgun.
again, youl spend more on the alarm than it does lower the insurance, get one for personal reassurance.
