So you have a virus, or you think you do, your internet is slow, in fact your whole superfast PC is slow, a window keeps popping up telling you that you have a virus, or you feel now is the time to get a proper antivirus program. Anyway, here are links to perfectly good antivirus/spyware tools:

Nod32 antivirus program, used by professionals (no really) and normal people alike, very useful, best ive had so far. Has won many awards and uses hardly any resources.

Adaware PRO, picks up more stuff then the free version, searches and deletes spyware fromo PC
Ad-aware PRO

SpybotSearch and Destroy is another anti-spyware program that has been around for a long time and is often seen to be better than adaware, it does the same thing, but I found it a little difficult to use.

AVG antivirus (free) is a free antivirus that is also commonly used as it is reliable and light on resources, however does not get as much as NOD32. If someone can find a hooky copy of the full version, it would be appreciated.

The most recent MS windows update is the Genuine Advantage Tool (whatever that is), which verifies your copy of windows and displays messages all the time if it thinks it is not legal.

Alternatively you can stop all (or select some) unnecessary programs starting up with windows without asking you, these are usually spyware (trojans) , and will be installed without your knowledge. However there are some perfectly good programs on the list which you need (like antivirus for example). The spyware removal tools above will get rid of spyware programs but this will do part of the job as well by stopping them starting up. You can also stop unnessary programs like Quicktime etc as well.
