Hey

Just wondering if there are any under 21's that are insured on a litre sports bike (gsxr, r1 etc)

Im wondering if theres a point of me getting one, or just waiting until im 21

What do you think?

Tatters springs to mind, he's got a Thunderace unless I'm mistaken.

I guess it depends what bike you're moving from really.

Im on a gsxr600 at the moment, but have only been on it a few months. Just wondering if its feasible for an under 21 to ride a stupidly big bike. I got money and im not afraid to spend it Razz

The Thunderace is probably a similar insurance group to my 600 - i pay £550 insurance for that

Was insured on a TL1000 when I was 18 with CIA Insurance for £850.

Im 19, 2yrs NCB and Ive had quotes on a few things, gsxr 1100 came out at £400 ish tpft, my GPz750 is £200 ish, zx7r was £290 I think. Wierdly enough my mate proximity gets a radged quote with MCD on a zx10r of something like £260 if he has still got the screenshot id think he'll post it.

I'm getting a 1998 R1 in Feb next year when my 33bhp is up, got quotes at £900 tpft online, expecting cheaper over the phone. Thats being 19 with 1yr NCB.

What's the point in paying silly money just to insure a litre sportsbike before 21?

I was 23 when i got my ZX6R. At the time it was the biggest most powerful bike i could afford, (sports 600's), and i had saved for ages to buy it. It still cost me £1200FC to insure it, and im glad i got it when i did, but id never pay anything like £1000 or more again to insure another bike ever!

Ive had as much fun on small 125-350cc bikes as ive ever had from a 600 too, and if i were starting out again, id not have done DAS, but instead brought a 125 to take my test on, and spent 2years riding small but fun bikes, and getting some NCB ready for when i wanted a big capacity sportsbike or other class of machine.

IMO theres no need for a litre sports bike anyhow. I ride a NSR250 and thats fine thank you very much. Very Happy

I've had silly fast bikes (165bhp FZR1000 engined FZR400) so I'm well aware of what there all about it's just that the novelty of having a 185mph missile wears off after a while especially once you get banned and scare yourself silly every other time you open it up.

A good bike for the twisties is what does it for me these days. I can have plenty of fun without going over 120mph. Thumbs Up

Im thinking of getting a litre bike, alot of people here by the looks of it have got litre bikes but what are they worth too that makes a big difference. Im geting quotes around the £700 on a 2000-2003 gsxr1000.

But the 2006 GSXR1000 valued at £7000 that i badly want im gettin some silly quotes not even worth mentioning
