Ok here we go again,

Except that after the interview he says I'd like to make you an offer when can you start? .Which threw me a bit since that morning I was applying to 4 other companies to give meself some more chances of getting work.

We sort of agreed something that he'd email me an offer and he'd send the offer in the post and call me today.

That was on Monday , its now Wednesday , and I've not been contacted , what does everybody read into this? , I'm a bit paranoid since with other jobs I turn up on the agreed date and they say sorry kid the job has been withdrawn which lead me sauntering back to me bike and riding 100+ miles home , just cus they couldn't be bothered to tell me.

whatcha reckon?

BTW I tried calling up but all I get is either

hes in a meeting / hes not in the office

Thanks.

Why couldn't he make an offer there and then, why would he have to email it to you? Confused

That seems a bit odd but in this case I'd say you should definately chase it up. Maybe he needs to clear/confirm it with someone else in the company.

Last real interview I had the bloke walked me to the lift going through which bits of training I'd enjoy, which bits I'd hate even gave me a start date. Shook my hand as I got into the lift said welcome aboard you have the job in the bag and 3 days later got a refusal letter.

Work that one out?

yea its a funny thing, before my accident i was appling fro summer lifeguarding jobs and sent some letters/CVs out and one rang when i was out Rolling Eyes i said i was just what they were looking for (fair but of lifeguarding experience) and would call again.

He never called again, i was going to chase it up but cant work this summer due to everything but weird how someone can be so like "yea we will take you on" then not contact me again, and didnt leave a number to contact him on.

Not good Crying or Very sad

they probably say that to the (lets say 5) people who they would most like for the job then make a final desicion, it would stop them being taken by other employers, i had loads where i went for an interview then got a call saying they werent looking for anyone/werent taking anybody on, so why advertise a job? unless they just didnt like me but i wish they would have just said that, then at least i may have gained something by asking them what they didnt like...

When you're rejected by Sainsburys, it might be time to throw in the towel. Laughing Wink

No disrespect meant but this was for a serious 35hour week job that paid around the 30G mark + overtime but I know where you're coming from.

I had someone offer me a job over the phone, but wouldn't discuss the terms of the offer in detail until my start date. They gave me a vague salary range.
When I went in my first day, she gave me the offer letter and it stated I woud start at the minimum amount in that range, but that after 90 days my salary would be raised to the maximum from the range. So I was very happy with that.

It could be that he needs to work out the exact details of the offer before calling you.

They wouldn't discuss it... ? Your salary package?

How strange is that? Shocked

Its clear that many employers these days think they have so much choice of candidates, from so many desperate applicants ... that they can take the piss.

If I did not know the salary in a job before I started, I wouldn't start.

In fact, if I don't know the salary before I applied for the job, or at least during the initial phone call/email before the interview ... I wouldn't go to the interview.

Bollox to all that.
