In the process of removing my windshield I found out that the two ‘shiny rectangles’ in my inner fairing were added by a previous owner… Never knowing what these objects were I have never really paid much attention to them.

I believe that the one on the left-side is a self-contained LCD clock, while the right hand side device has a wire running through the bike all the way under to the rear number plate where I found some sort of sensor(see pic). I’m guessing this is some kind of thermostat but I am not entirely sure.

As both LCD’s are buggered I plan on finding replacements that match the holes cut into the fairing, can any recognise and identify these components.

A round hole was also cut with a unknown component in the left fairing(see pics), any ideas??

…cheers Ow

The thing on the numberplate is a thermocouple, so the one must be a temperature guage. I would guess the other is just a basic clock. Wink

well the two LCD displays look the same, so im pretty sure they were bought as a set. Had a look on Busters etc to no avail. I would like to find and replace the devices with an identical set too match the holes cut by a previous owner...

Anyone have any idea what the round object is??? Planning on putting the fairing back together today so these items will all go back as they were - broken for the time being.

Have you got a side on photo of the bottom 2 pictures, the widget looks like its quite deep?!?. Does the other LCD have a wire coming off it to?

Soz, but it all back together now, the 'widget' is quite deep (approx 1cm), looks hollow inside apart for of metal strip (looks like something to attach a wire too)...i was guessing it was something to hold a battery???. There are also two small LED sized holes in left fairing but no signs of LED's.

The clock LCD is all self contained, only the thermometer LCD has an external wire...thanks for all your feedback Finglonga... So far ive found a full scotoiler system, heated grips and these LCD things, its full of surprises...

This might seem daft, but can you ask the previous owner. You could write him a letter of you have his address on the V5?

Cheers,

Steve

Unfortunatley the previous owner was a old gentleman who had had a couple of strokes, couldnt speak very well and kept repeating misc information, the bike only did 16 miles in 2 years with owner, thats why it was being sold...plus he wasnt awear that the bike had the scotoiler or heated grips...so im thinking this was all fitted by a previous owner to him, dont think this info is available on new log-books...maybe ill dig it out.

Was just hoping to find replacement parts that would fit the holes cut into fairing, looks like no-one else has the same parts...

Cheers for the help guys...Looks like their just gonna sit in the fairings while i own the bike....dont intend to spend too much money on her as i plan on packbacking asia soon...

Thinking of building a quick basic 555 timer circuit with LED to place through empty holes, might LOOK like an alarm??
