That looks like the swinging arm spindle rather than an engine mount - unusual to have it do both jobs.

If you're taking the engine out, presumably for a strip judging by the pictures, you'd do well to get the front sprocket nut off before you go any further.

Very common on bikes. Off the top of my head every ducati, XT series, VT1000's etc.

Myself and Yokogeri had similar problems getting that bolt out, it's part of the swing arm and goes through the back of the engine.

We ended up using a sledge hammer to drive it out, although we did then have to replace the bolt as we knackered the thread.

Tell me about it. Just cut an NTV engine out of the frame.

If you're going to whack it with a big hammer then put a nut on the end first. Even a copper mallet will fuck the threads. If you do damage them you may be able to salvage the bolt with a thread file, though you've actually got to get the bugger out before you can start thinking that far ahead Smile

damn that looks rigid.

it might take a few days but i'd lay the bike on its side and puddle some diesel around the bolt. each evening give a whack and apply some more diesel.

the bolt looks hollow, seal up one end of bolt and pour some ice water in and give it another whack.
