Router Advice

Ok, So i finally got round to getting another pc ( ) BUT im only connected downstairs (here) Its on 2Mb Tiscali Broadband and running a speedtouch 330 modem, connected to a filter which a phone is also plugged into, and the modems connected by a USB cable to the pc...And thats where my knowledge runs out

Can i buy another modem (router?) that would allow me to run a cable upstairs to get the other pc connected?

Dont know names of cables and connections so diagrams would also help

(I heard wireless is poor? so i think running a cables the better option?)

Replace the modem with an ADSL Modem Router (wireless or not is your preference)

You can get wireless routers that support conventional network cables. There's nothing wrong with wireless, but obviously depends on how many walls/ceilings the signal needs to go through.

If you do go wireless, protect it from unauthorised access (by a password that your computers will have), as your neighbours may be able to access the Internet using your router!

Then what kind of cables would i use to connect both pcs?

Not sure. But any cables that come with a router or modem are likely to be very short (2' maybe).
