I thought we were just going through a rough patch and we'd sort it out, but it hasn't worked.

After 5 years me and my girlfriend have split Crying or Very sad We've lived together for the last 2 and a bit years, she's still my best friend. Dammit, I've started crying now

She's staying at a friends for now, but we've gotta sort out the house, car, bank accounts... I've no idea how I'm going to cope doing that.

I keep telling myself that it'll be ok in time, but right now i'm hurting

thanks for listening

Awwww, that really sucks. Best thing'd be to have nothing to dow ith her, sounds harsh but it'll only remind you. When she gets with another guy, it'll be rammed down your throat, or you'd hear of it some way or other. Staying mates with someone you love doesn't work.
Spend a lil while feeling sorry for yourself, camp on your sofa with tissues and dvds (not rude ones lol!) and a tub of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food ice cream. Then, once it's outta your system a bit, go out with mates, have a laugh, and try to forget about it. That's what I'd do Wink

I've been going through a rough patch with my girlfriend and have come very close to ending it recently but have been tentative.
What you describe above is exactly how I imagine I'd feel and the same position I'd be in.
I'm trying to not let that prospect determine my decision though.
I suspect the best way is to avoid the person entirely. At least when somone dies there are no blurred lines. It'll take will power and strength to see it through without collapsing but with the right distractions then you will inevitably heal and move on.
