So the edge of the tyres has perished from racing, and you push them to the limits on the road? Nice.. ____________________ Current bikes: 1960 Triumph 5ta x2, TTR600RE, KTM200EXC, Cagiva Elephant 900ie. |

Still got plenty of grip left, more than a brand new road tyre.
Just not ultimate grip for the track.
I've got a couple of fronts that have done only one race weekend + practice day, yet was racing on a front that had done two race weekends and was still getting decent lap times (about the same as fifth place, though was catching up).
The very edges aren't the bits that lose grip, it's the middle of the curve, mostly on the right on the rear tyre, from getting on the power.
The front has a much easier time, especially the way I ride most of the time .
I don't generally do lapping of roundabouts and would hope I'm never in the situation to push them fully while general road riding. If I am, I'll be damn thankfull I've got them, rather than hard-wearing road rubber. |

Supercorsa Pros.
They are road legal.
They are considered and sold as race tyres - a race 'intermediate' technically, though wouldn't be as good as a real intermediate in damp, cold race conditions.
I believe these are the control tyre for WSS as well as World Superstock, though they may get a better version than we do.
While some would consider the production based racing series not 'real' racing, I'd say that's good enough credentials for it to be considred a race tyre, despite being road legal .
You don't have to call them race tyres, doesn't really change anything about them . |

Yes it does as I stated before real race tyres match certain conditions, they can't be used on the road, hence 'race use only' like your exhaust . I know the supercorsa have built up a good history for road going race bikes to use. I think some series even have it has everyone must use that tyre.
To be fair I bet all other makes top road legal tyres are just as good, just the Pirelli supercorsa have built a good name for it now it seems.
Anyway if it rains your probably fooked unlike my all conditions tyre .
I've had many of theory lessons on tyres and many makes give power point presentations, their all the same. Apart from Avon they seem to make tyres from plastic cheese stuff, nice factory though cool to see how they are made. ____________________ Current bikes: 1960 Triumph 5ta x2, TTR600RE, KTM200EXC, Cagiva Elephant 900ie. |

Just because you don't consider the WSS control tyre to be a race tyre, doesn't make it any less sticky .
Other makes are pretty much as good for grip levels etc, but the same for top race tyres and other things. Not really relevenat to anything - my comment was that I had them, while you didn't .
I wouldn't try to lean quite as far on a supercorsa in the wet, but you can get suprisingly good grip. Definitely over touring tyres that you might expect to be good in the rain - but don't actualyl have the grip to make use of their water-removing qualities.
With a decent amount of skill you can go pretty damn fast on Supercorsas in very damp conditions - having found the limits in the past .
I agree on Avons, at least , |

Well the more grip you want ideally the less tread pattern you have as the tyre does not deform too much, but you can't displace water very well.
But then again I think in Forumla one slicks arn't aloud (don't follow it but I remember it being said). Yet dry weather tires are still referred to as 'slicks'. Can't win can you.
I was just saying that to me a race tyre is for race use only (slicks). I have seen people on the roads with slick tyres, looks like fun. My rear tyre at the moment is pretty much slick anyway.
Bet you can't get honda parts at 50% off ... But I don't have Honda and only get 10-20% off ducati parts . ____________________ Current bikes: 1960 Triumph 5ta x2, TTR600RE, KTM200EXC, Cagiva Elephant 900ie. |
