 |
|
I had a paper licence before and after passing the DAS I had to pay for the photo one, I checked the back of the licence with my G.F. and was supprised by the lack of catagories on her licence
She has B (car)
p (moped)
I have
A
B
BE (car + trailer)
C1 (medium vehicle removal van etc)
C1E (above + trailer)
D1 (people carrier)
D1E (above + trailer)
fklnp (provisionals i think)
Best bit is one of the provisionals is for a tracked vehicle so I can get a tank with L plates
I didn't realise they stopped adding all those catagories to new licences its a bit crap really. I often use my dads trailer to take crap upto the council tip and have driven removal vans for friend moving house but if I passed my first test after 97 I would't be able to...why? I dont get it are the 17yr olds+ thicker in 1998 than in prev years- no didn't think so, was my driving test in a minibus - no so whats the deal? ____________________ Prev CBR600RR (06) Orange/Black

the newer your licence (date you first passed) the less stuff it has on , moped entitlement used to be allowed pre 2001 not it isn't and requires CBT.
or it was a DVLA fuckup (not as uncommon as you may think as the DVLA database is estimated 40% wrong).
However Jason spotted that each time you send you licence in they try pull a fast one and remove entitlements you once had hence foricing people to take tests to other vehicles.
The further back you go when you passed the test the more is on your licence , my ex boss passed his around the 50s (he was 75ish) and is allowed to drive a steam roller,
My dad has more than mine ,
My mum has less than my dad but more than me
and my older sister has more than me but less than my mum.
EDIT
More tests = more money to be spent on training to pass tests (= more corporate tax from schools , more income tax from the school instructors , more income tax from examiners) and more tax the government takes a cut out of from the tests(not forgetting the other taxes like IPT which schools , learners and examiners incur).
Which is all part of a NL agenda in that they purposely increase inefficiencies to get more money outta you , which is really just a tax increase and a stealthy way to do it , and the opposite of what should happen in a market economy. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I think they realised that giving the average joe a licence to drive a 7.5 ton lorry when conceivably all they'd ever driven was a Nissan Micra on their test was maybe a little silly. Or they saw massive potential for making money out of people needing to sit more tests...
Tis a pain, it means newbie licence holders can't drive some vans that are exactly the same as the lighter ones apart from having suspension that *could* take more weight. Same size, same power, just stronger springs (or whatever) but you'd need a 7.5 ton category to be allowed to drive it, even if it was empty.
Me, I'm old and have a million categories. |

7.5 ton are lots of trouble anyway , need tachos and stuff ,
in Plymouth a competing company always got massive fines for things wrong on tachos , while the company I worked for used 3.5ton vans and badly overloaded them (that they were bottomed out on the springs) ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. So if you don't have BE on your licence you can't drive a car with a single bike trailer?
EDIT
