Depends on the garage doesn't it?
Mine was £23.50 and a free retest within 7 days, not that I needed it |

"The current requirements for MOT retest procedures can be found in the MOT Testing Guide (see the VOSA website for further information at https://www.vosa.gov.uk/. Every Vehicle Testing Station (VTS) must have at least one up to date copy of the guide and the Fees and Appeals poster. The poster must be displayed on the official notice board in the reception area of every VTS."
Doesn't really sound like there's meant to be garages making their own rules. Ask to have a look at the MOT Testing Guide which they should have and then point out the bit about free retests... |

Its like ste said.
| Quote: | If the vehicle is returned to the same VTS and retested before the end of the next working day on one or more of the following items only.
Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) warning, boot lid, brake pedal anti-slip, direction indicators/hazard warning, doors, dropsides, emissions, fuel filler cap, headlamp aim, horn, lamps, loading door, mirrors, rear reflectors, registration plates, seat belts (but not anchorages), seats, sharp edges or projections, steering wheel, tailboard, tailgate, vehicle identification number (VIN), windscreen, windscreen wipers/washers, wheels* and tyres*.
*excludes class 1&2

The other problem comes when someone takes more than 2/3 days to fix there bike, the mot computer wont allow you to do whats called a "fast track mot retest" You have to plug in the bike as if you were doing a full mot (which you should be anyway, wink wink nudge nudge) and as this process takes up time they will charge for it. If someone cant fix there bike in time and then rolls up for a retest 6 days later they can expect to be charged, because you are in effect taking up one of their slots.
As it happens we dont charge for retests within 7days where i work, although its cars unfortunately. ____________________ Cbr1100xx blackbird gone, mk4 golf gt tdi chav now
