Just getting my bike registered, but just wondering, im running it de-restricted as when i bought it it was, so to my better knowledge it is Razz, but has anyone got into any sort of bother about it ...

Also, whens it goes in for MoT, to finish off my registration, will it being de-restricted come up, or be found out etc?

MOT wise its nothing to do with Mr MOT man unless the exhaust doesn't comply with E type approval which nomally means it is stamped NOT FOR ROAD USE when it should say BSAU-198 or E-13

Yer, had this before, it hasnt got NOT FOr ROAD USE but then it doesnt have anything else like E-13 etc ...

I was told its down to the Mr.MoT if he'll let the exhaust go ...

I think you will be fine as long as it does not have 'Not for road use' plastered all over it. Many people I know have 'Not for road use' on their end cans and you can get it off by filing and other mechanical mumbo jumbo. You should be fine.

I doubt they would find out unless it is really really obvious, my 125 is derestricted with a servo and they didnt even bother to slap me for it when they heard it on the ignition switch.

If they make a fuss just take to another garage that doesnt care, just the same as chain guards etc thats supposed to fail but I still passed without it.

Most people stick their normal can back on for the MOT then slap the NOT FOR ROAD USE one on after its passed Razz

As long as it doesn't have 'Not For Road Use' stamped on the exhaust it 'can' pass. You don't need E marks it's up to the inspector to decide if its too noisy. Wink

The MOT test wont fail you for de-restriction, it isnt on the test. There is a list of things the tester has to check, de-restriction isnt one of them. If I rode your bike to get it tested, then how is it illegal? I have a full licence, so I can ride a de-restricted 125. The MOT test has nothing to do with your licence, they dont even ask for it, so on top of them not having any duty to check for de-restriction, even if they did how would they be able to do it without knowing if you are licenced to ride the bike de-restricted. At the end of the day what you need to remember is that having a de-restricted bike is not in any way illegal, riding one on a CBT is.

Wronge! all MOT tester SHOULD check for type approval but some do not.

P.S Would you like my Vehicle Testing Station (VTS) number and VOSA I.D, yes thats right I am a Mr MOT man.

AFAIK a Mot Pass does NOT mean taht the can is road legal with regards to noise, noise is not tested only the amount of gasses it passes. I thought otherwise, untill mr policeman slapped me for it Razz

If a tester thinks that the level of noise emmitted from an exhaust is excessly more then a standerd system in a fair condition he Should fail the vehice.
If you are then stopped and the exhaust is found to be illegal this should be reported to the M.O.T and if you can provid proof tht the exhaust was fitted at time of test the V.T.S can be held liable for repairs to an M.O.T standerd.
As for 'gasses it passes' what do you mean as there is on emissions tests on bikes(YET).
