You've pretty much guessed it by the title.

I have a provisional with CBT and now have 6 points on my licence. Evil or Very Mad

What really peed me off was that I was 'caught' doing the offence back in March and they take until now to notify me. I was apparently doing 38 in a 30 which I'm pretty sure is a 40 zone and many people I know think it is aswell.

I can't get my head around it, I see people really speeding every day. I live just in front of a main road which is a 30 zone and I see people doing excess speeds of about 50+mph regularly (I'm not kidding, a few times a day at least) but I get 3 point and a £60 fine for doing 3 mph over the tolerance.

I'm very close to writing on the fine letter:

'Shove this up your arse, you can fucking whistle for the fine, go and catch real speeders and not with just turds in donkey jackets with their flasks of tea stashed behind a hedge row'.

I AM truly PISSED OFF!!!

If it happened back in March, check out your rights as far as the time limit is concerned, there's some confusion over how long they've got to prosecute you.

If you've just been notified now you may have a case. If you were stopped and cautioned at the side of the road that doesn't apply, but if you've been done by a camera they have only 14 days to send you a Notice of Intended Prosecution. The only exception to this is if you're difficult to trace - bike not registered in your name for instance.

Bend over ad take it like a man Wink ....Thing is when you get a bigger bike you will lose your licence within a week at this rate.

There are things on the side of the road on top of poles, they are vertical, flat, round and white, they have a red outline painted on them and a number in the center. If you keep your speedo on or under that number you won't get done. Worth keeping an eye out for them. Wink Mr. Green

Example..

Oh and it may be worth looking here....Pepipoo and Try this

The tolerance is there so that people that are speeding slightly dont get speeding tickets, the tolerance doesnt have a tolerance on top of that! Below 35 you might get away with it, above its unlikely.

Plus most (if not all) speedo's over read so say your speedo said 35, chances are you were only doing 33ish.

I don't hang about when the road gets interesting, but 30s and 40s are usually strictly adhered to. Thus, my 7 year old licence is clean.

If you don't want to get caught, don't speed in built up areas.

But as soon as you pass your test they'll be on your license and any points after that will have it taken off of you, rather than the 6 point buffer that most people have.

How were you caught, assume a speed trap?

3 points and £60 for doing 8mph over the limit in front of the police. Was 38mph what you'd got the bike down to by braking when you saw them or did you just not see them and were riding at 38mph?

yeah well watch out even more when or maybe IF you get a proper licence the new drivers act applies if you have no other form of driving licence (ie if you've got a car licence from 1999 and get 6 points in 2006 when passing your bike test = no ban)., 6 points = ban and licence stripping which means cbt theory , and extended test.

Prefer the old style of dealing with speeders Smile
a story my uncle told me
Driving down the Brighton road just south of croydon in 1976 he was doing easily 60mph in a 40 zone, flew passed a parked police car. The car chucked on his lights but didnt catch up for a min by which time he was crusing along at 30mph Cool The copper pulled him over and marched him to the front of his car, and asked him calmy "what speed where you going sir" my uncle replyed with a smile "30mph officer". A short pause before the copper said "lieing bast*rd" and whacked him one under the jaw sending him over his cars bonnet. By the time he got up the police car had continued on its merry way.

..and in certain countries, when they ask to see your license, just pass it over with some cash slipped in with it, which seems to do the trick Thumbs Up

Unlucky,

Not a lot i can say that hasnt been said allready apart from - Dont Speed Around Town.

Ive got 3 points on my liscence from a gay camera sited on the A1, but im not going to go into that, it wont help. But since then ive calmed down...

If you want to open her up - go somewhere out of the way, somewhere there are no cameras and no police...

Despite what you may think - cameras and police are generally placed at locations where it is generaly not safe to speed - due to houses, or due to traffic conditions. So pop off out of the way somewhere and find yourself some nice roads.

Dont do more than the limit in a blooming 30... 30's are there for a reason.

Anyway, enough of the safety nazi stuff - get down to peppipoo or w/e its spelt and check it out. It might be that it has taken them too long to issue you with the NIP, so you can in theory send it back saying that it has been too long and that they cannot prosecute you - referece: (relevant act) etc...

You broke the law, you got caught, don't fucking moan about it.

Consider yourself lucky that it took this long to come, you /might/ get away with it.

But I hope you don't. Just because your attitude seems to be saying that you don't deserve it. Which you do. Especially on a CBT, you should be riding properly, you're at risk enough as it is without riding like a twat. You should be getting ready for your test.
