I have not been on a bike for a good couple of weeks now since the ZXR curled up her toes and died on me, I think getting rid was one of the worst decisions made, as was selling all my gear too But, I now have an itch for another 2 wheeled wonder.
I've been patiently checking egay for a cheap bike, but none have been found, either too expensive, too far away or too clapped out
I only want a bike for the odd occasion where I can use it for work (about 20 mile round trip), the odd ride out around the local roads and generally any excuse I can fob the wife off with
The thing is that I keep looking at the lil' old Monkey Bikes
I think that they are cool looking, not sure when theres a rider on them
Are they a serious commuter bike for the very rare occasion when it could be used?
Would anyone on the road actually see me?
Would going 40mph max satisfy my biking needs?
Will I ever get my knee down
Would I get laughed at when an old granny overtakes me on her push bike.

Iv seen one on the road once, looked bloody stupid. Plus they are so small and low to the ground cars probably wont see you. If you rode a ZXR i would think it would be a little slow. If you want a really cheap bike you should get one of those chinese bikes, like the cg copy or a dirt bike, will only cost about £500 and would be much more fun and safer. ____________________ Rieju MRX 50 Castrol Edition |

Get an old 2t 125 with a seized engine, buy a new barrel and piston set dirt cheap, do yourself a rebuild and hey presto, cheap fun bike. A '99 mito or aprilia rs125 would only set you back £500 with a crapped engine

i own a Califfo Mini KS50 monkey bike and i have owned it for four years. I do not ride it on the road as
a) im not old enough to
b)no MOT( wouldnt pass anyway)
and
c) you wouldnt last to long until someone ran you over as mine only does 20mph and they are really small
Getting the knee down on mine is impossible because the footpegs are almost touching the ground already. I would think it would be a better idea to go for something bigger as 40mph will be crap compared to what you are used to.
Hope this was helpful
Sorry about the life story

Monkeys are the same size as midimotos, but they ARE fully road legal, although, yes the coppers will probably try and pull you everytime they see ya ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |
