2 year probation after passing full test Q's - re points

I have a full car licence which I have had for 10+ years, passed in early 1995. I had provisional bike entitlement for years.

I recently added DAS full cat to my licence last month.

The Road Traffic ( New Drivers) Act 1995 here https://tinyurl.com/26v2b

it states that you have a 2 year probationary period and if u get 6 points you lose your licence well I allready have 7 points and still have my licence after having the new full bike category added

So - if I get anymore points - do I lose my full licence - or just the bike catergory or does it not apply to me as I passed my driving test after the regulations came in?

Does it apply to folks with a brand new licence and not to those who simply add catergories to an old licence?

I'm all confused.

It only applies when you get a new license - not a new category.

So you can relax - you're safe (unless you get 5 more points ).

the new drivers act 6 points an yer out only applys to those who are passing their first test be it car or bike.

I asked the examiner right after I passed , he had a look and saw my car licence from years before and said no you won;t get banned if you get 6 points but its not a good idea ins and all that

Thats good to know, I have to last less than a year and i havent got any points yet....
