I'm trying to uninstall the Intel IDE driver and replace it with a standard Microsoft driver, but everytime I uninstall it, Windows then automatically reinstalls it, how do I stop it doing that?

Anyone?

Ta.

Surely the Intel one is better?

You can either find the intel driver file and delete it (i would rather put it in a zip file just in case you need it later) so windows selects its own equivalent or be smart with the installer window and find a way to manually install your own drivers.

Because I'm using a DVD ripper, that's notorious for fucking up with Intel/VIA/Nvidia IDE drivers

See above, but thanks a lot for your help

I wouldn't recommend it but you can go into the drivers file on the C: drive and manually delete it but that driver looks like a motherboard specific one so could screw you up something rotten.
