went out for an early morning blast with a neighbour today on his blade up in the yorkshire dales
pic was taken at a top road near ribblehead viaduct

plenty of sheep nearby too Twisted Evil Laughing

Gixxer looking lovely as always, as does the blade, but is it me or does something not look quite right with the back of the new gix 600's/750's?
I can't really put my finger on it, maybe the back is a tad too high, or the fairing doesn't seem to come back as far as it looks like it should?

all i can think of with the k6 600's & 750's is the tiny cans they have
because they're so short it exposes a lot more at the back
they look different to the new 1000 which has that bigger can that's needs to be strapped to the footpeg

i like the change,after 16k of vtwin miles on the firestorm n aprilia
it's a new challenge



i'm finding i'm having to use the brakes more going in to bends coz there's sod all engine braking obviously

for a 750 il4 there's a surprising amount of low down torque but not a patch on the mille so i'm missing that instant urge

i've noticed when i accelerate round the bends,knee down and fully over,the arse end skips a little,the aprilia never did that but the ohlins was set up spot on for me-
gixxer probably needs setting up for my weight,don't think factory settings will be for a 6'2-17 stone lad like myself
not sure if skipping is a characteristic of fours?


gonna miss the vtwin thing for sure and one day i'll go back to one i know this

Can relate to that a bit, I was on a gix 600 and found that the back end felt to me a bit "snakey" at times but it also felt controllable and very stable.
Having 16k odd revs was also fun to play around with and those zuki engines seem bulletproof.

Like you mentioned, when I moved to the Mille, I could not get over the sheer amount of engine braking it has compared to the IL4 Gix. And the Torque difference was obviously a big change too.
Took me awhile to adjust to the different style I needed to ride it as the engine sound was alien to me and found it hard at first to tell what rpm I was at with out looking, and downshifting etc all had to change from the way I rode the zuki.

the skipping isn't that bad,i mean it don't feel like it's gonna high side,but ya never know Shocked
gixxer doesn't handle bumpy-uneven b roads as good but as for smooth roads & track wise i think it'll excel

like you say it would be nice to be able to afford one of each coz they both have good points

gimme a month or so when the bikes run in and i'll tell you which i really prefer

it's good talking with someone who's actually owned both coz i know so many IL4 riders who just won't give twins a chance and slag them off
comments like "tractors" "slower than fours"
i think they're worried they might actually like them!
once you learn to ride a twin well you can shock a lot of people

no more pix yet,but i'll be taking the digicam out next week so i'll try get some then

I've had to fork out on a new C&S kit which is why I'm skint now.

The tinted headlight cover is what I was looking into as I hear the headlight setup is expensive to replace if you get cracks on it etc. And when I went to Mallory the other week we had to go over this stone infested road and I was praying!

No look at the lower fairing, on the thou it comes back all the way to the wheel, on the 750 it doesnt, just looks a bit funny to me, but beautiful bike you have anyway.

i actually prefer that style over the thou love the more exposed rear wheel

dont like the duc's arse as much as the older style they had..2 twins coming out rather then a fat square box
