www.motorbikedatabase.co.uk

This is my new website that is still in its early develpoment stages. Click the 'DB' link in the bottom left corner for the dynamic content. Currently there are only '05 bikes in the database (bar a few) but I hope to quickly fill this out. The second half of the database wil be more home maintenance oriented, with information on torque settings for various bits and bobs, types/amounts of oils used, stuff like that.

It doesn't look pretty at the moment, but I'll be designing the front end a little better once the database is bigger. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or comments concerning the site, aswell as information on your own bikes with pics if possible.

The first page was just a quick holding page while I develop the dynamic content. The home page most likely wont be red or use that picture when the site is finished.

Did you click the link in the bottom left?

Lots of views but no suggestions Sad

I've made the active content easier to find. Just click the image.

Still mostly only 2005 models in the database except CBR600F all models, 2000 SV650, 2006 R6 and 2004 VTR1000F.

Some ideas, please, would be greatly appreciated.

Thundercat pages dont seem to work,
Its a good idea, but for it to take off you would need LOADS of bikes, even obscure little ones, then it would be very usefull as it stands you are not providing much a simple google couldent come up with...

The look of the site needs to be improved but thats not the main issue, i think the more bikes you have on there the better, especially older ones, as most new bikes have a wealth of info about them readily available, its alot of work trawling around but if you do it, the site would be in my bookmarks...

Good idea. What about allowing people to register and add information themselves?

It'll save you having to enter it all and keep it up to date

Haven't looked at it, but if you start to do that, you then need to have a way for the data to be verified (possibly by more people 'voting' for/against it, etc?).

The reason I started this was to try and get all the information needed about a certain bike in one place. I have seen loads of sites that offer the information, but I've never seen data relating to things like torque settings.

Really appreciate the input, this is the kind of thing I need. Thumbs Up I will be redesigning the look of it, but I'd rather concentrate on filling up the database. I'll try and get some older/lesser known bikes on there aswell.

This was also something I was thinking of encorporating into the site. And yes, it will need some kind of verification process. I think Wikipedia do something like that. Thinking

Yea, I like the idea of people adding to the database, that would expand it quickly, especially if you had a bit of a whip around and got the BCF lot to add their bikes, but as G says you need verification... Perhaps just a form that sends the info to you and then you post it...

That would be alot of work for yourself, but it would also save you finding all the info on your own... either way keep us posted of updates...
