...not much more to say really..

this isn't an agony aunt request for help... just felt like telling people. Problem shared and all that,...

My girlfriend has just been round to pick up her stuff, she told me last night, but I hoped by today she'd changed her mind. (nothing like a bit of self denial)

She felt it was time to move on, She said it was too easy, safe and stable to stay with me when she feels it's not exactly what she wants anymore, and she'd rather make a clean break now, than let it drag on.

I can understand her point of view, and we will endeavour to stay friends, which I think I can manage.

It hurts and I miss her already, but it would be unfair to try and drag it out with "time apart" and such like.

such is life. Sometimes I hate myself for being so pragmatic in these situations, but you can't make someone feel something that they don't feel, and I know this is hurting her too, so don't want to make it worse for both of us.

I'm seeing her at the weekend, to drop off stuff I inevitably knew she'd forget. I hope it doesn't get all weird.

arse!

anyone for a beer?

i know u didnt ask for advice but...
i was ditched in feb and wasnt happy.
Today however I have shagged a new girl and may get to shag her again. I had thought I was over my breakup, but its the new shag that gets u over it properly
Thumbs Up

The only problem with this is I appear to be addicted to women as I cant be properly happy if I dont have one.

an interestingly pragmatic view there colin!!

feef - re: being 'friends' - in my view once that rocket has gone in the socket there's no going back.

Get a lock on the mobile phone for ex-girlfriends numbers after 5 pints down the Crab and Calculator and get yourself a new missus.

the Past, as it says on the label, is the Past...

as do i, but maybe it's cos since I first started having girlfriends, i've never been alone for any length of time.

perhaps I need to learn to be less dependant on being a couple and try and enjoy myself by myself.

then again, I'm 32 and I'm not getting any younger, but should that matter? do I really care if I don't meet "the one"? in hoesty, i think I do care. I can't imagine getting old, and being sat in my house at age 75, all by myself.

I think i'm starting to realise I do want kids afterall (completely unrelated to this breakup btw)

it's funny how sudden changes can put things in perspective.

I've realised I've become a bit of a slob these last couple of months. It's time to get myself in check and sort myself out.

there is an element of that, I'm sure. But I think as we get older, we realise that it's not all parties every night, and that we're not going to be here forever that we start to realise (subconsciously) that we need someone to be there for, and who's there for you. I don't crave 'love' but I do hope I find it. I do crave companionship, but unfortunately, I can't, if i'm honest with myself, be with someone for the sake iof being with them, so despite love itself not being my craving, companionship depends on love.

someone you can share time with, who appreciates you, supports you and accepts you despite your failings. That's what I hope for.

wonder if that makes sense.

like I said at the top there..

sometimes I hate my ability to pragmatic at times where I want to stand up and fight, but being able to see both sides allows me to see that sometimes fighting is pointless, and does neither side any good.

I think it's that ability that helps me realise what I really need, rather than living from knee-jerk emotional reactions. I'm thankful for it as much as I hate it, as it enables me to heal wounds much faster.

anyone else over-analyse themselves as much as this? :s

The whole "friends" thing i never do, often too painfull to watch your hope filled heart get shot down, I also agree that sleeping with someone else does make it "feel" better but it is always going to be there, the little things that remind you of him/her.

couple of people ive been with are more in love with the idea of being in love.

a very true observation... and one situation I'm wary of falling into..

unfortunately, I seem to fall in love a little too easily to be sensible Smile

I feel it..

Despite the horrible break up with me previous ex, I did care, and still do. I wonder how she is sometimes, and even now, on occasion, think about just phoning and saying "hi, how's it going?" but i know that would open old wounds. By all means speak to him, and seek closure on it, say goodbye, and try and leave without any animosity, but if you're like me, you'll always remember, and wonder.
