The title says it all. Mostly if folks who carry a laptop to work on their motorbikes could say a word or two, on how they carry it without damdging all the delicate stuff or dropping it Shocked. Thanks

I normally just put it in my rucksack and hope i dont crash. You could probably get one of the proper padded laptop rucksacks but i dont think they would really make much differance in the event of an accedent

I got a laptop case that is a rucksack type one when I got my last laptop, I haven't tried it on the bike yet, but I'll use that when I need to. Keeps the laptop tight and is fairly padded.

Staples do rucksacs made for laptops, which has the added bonus of not obviousloy being a laptop bag (and haveing steal me written allover it) and i'll tend to put it in hard luggage, top box would be preferable..

Or strap the bag to your seat if you dont have a pillion with you.

Thanks for the replies, I don't like the idea of a rucksack, I think I will break the laptop Mr. Green

Are there any panniers/soft luggage that is meant for laptops, padded from vibes etc

I ride to work everyday with my laptop. Just stick it in my tankbag. Thumbs Up

This might not be the best of advice if this is your own bought-and-paid-for laptop though. After a summer of wheelies off the humpback bridge on the way to Annabella's house I had to have my laptop replaced. Laughing

Ive used a tankbag bfore too, only problem is them magnes are bloody srtong and hdd's are very fickle.. unless its one of them magnetless strappy ones..

If you allready have a rack then a peleican case (for your size laptop) bolted on would be your best bet, they are veyr srong, fully waterproof and will deaded 99% of the vibrations out..

At the same time they are designed to be thrown in the boot of a sales rep mobile, so unless your laptop is really shitely made it should cope Thumbs Up

I put mine in my tank bag. Normally only carry it with me when i go between uni in cov and home in Essex tho.

So i have some clothes as a bottom layer of the tank bag, then the laptop, then more clothes on top. Put the power cables in my rucksack.

Good luck.

Top box?

If i had to carry it everyday to work and back i would just leave it there.

I carry a drink to work and thats mostly it.

It's got a bunch of magnets on the bottom. Never had a problem with magnets screwing with my hard drive, and i've been doing it for years.

Hard drives are a lot more hardy than you're giving them credit for.

Top boxes are going to be more subject to vibration than the tank - rucksack will be best of all for this - and stays with you when filling up etc.
Sounds like they aren't as delicate as might be imagined anyway.

Thanks all;
Just to say:

1. Luke I have the same Rucksack Thumbs Up it is good.
2. I prefer not to carry a rucksack in case of an accident its going to make things worse. Sick Oh there is a 80GB hard disk drive in your spine and an 8 cell battery up your a*se, and more RAM in your brains Mr. Green
3. I am on the lookout for specific laptop luggage if I can or will perhaps have one custom made (if there will be any group disconts I will let people know)
4. I am more scared of vibes spoiling the laptop Shocked Magnets wont but vibes will.
5. I havent found a saddle bag that can take the dimensions of my laptop or even a pillion top bag Confused

If your going to be carrying a laptop, make sure you have a back protector too, wouldent like to know what sort of damage could be done if you landed on it without one Neutral

I've had a laptop in a rucksack and binned my Bike coming off a roundabout in icy conditions.

Laptop was fine (which is more than could be said for the bike).

I usually carry my laptop in a normal laptop case in a top box.
