Funnily enough, that was the bike I was planning on getting after I'm done with my Bandit400 Wink.

Also, the guy I bought the Bandit off bought a ZX6R.

Strange...

Try here for more biased views...

https://www.mcnninjas.co.uk/forum/

Personally, I have a lot more fun on my VFR400 than my ZX6R, although thats mainly because I use it only on the track.

I love the Ninja, but it's not as great as I'd hoped for. I had wanted one for years.

FWIW, there's a beautiful Ducati 750ss which is going for £2300 in the classifieds on here. No where near the power of the Ninja, but lovely bikes for the road and far less common. And no, I have no idea who the person is or have any links with them Thumbs Up However I did used to have a Ducati 750ss!!

I got a J1 Ninja and I can't fault it, totally biased anyway. I tried a CBR6 but found the seat a little uncomfortable, very quick obviously, took me by surprise when I first cranked the throttle - before that I was on a restricted GPZ500S - but totally pleased with it though Thumbs Up

It is the same bike i wanted to buy when i passed my test in december, but i thought it might kill myself getting straight on a 600 ninja.Anyway its still on offer, and im now very tempted to get it as i feel i can now handle it.
I like my Bandit, but im getting bored of wringing its neck to get the performance, i would like to be able to cruise at 70/75. The bandit will sit at that speed, but its not a comfy ride.

I went from a bandit to a ZX6R (J1 model).

Lovely transition, the pegs felt really high after the bandit and the handle bars low down and no steering lock, but after the 10 mins it takes to get used to this the ZX6 is a far nicer bike to ride, you will feel more of the bumps in the road but the handling is far better and the bike feels way lighter, wind protection is OK but not great as the screen as standard is fairly low.

However the induction roar is superb and the power above 7K is great and above 10K is phenominal for a 600cc bike.

I am very bias though, if you want advice on what to look for with zx6's PM me, I have owned 2 now.

GSXR1100 Slingshot turbo nitrous.

proper mans bike. more modern bikes handle too well and take the fun out of all the horsepower.

I didn't like my friends ZX6r much - too twitchy low down, hard ride, not very comfortable over distance, but then again he loves it and doesn't like my Thunderace much - clutch working at end of lever, heavier, wider, softer suspension - each to their own.

My own opinion is that the R6 is the best 600 all round, but I've not ridden the CBR600f (or rr) so the opinion is formed from riding an 02 R6, 98S ZX6, 55 GSXR6

If you ride the J model ZX6 and the A1P model ZX6 back to back you would barely notice the differance, only you may be a bit quicker on the A1P because your wallet will be £500+ lighter.

Doesn;t it depend on the model year? The sharkey-nosed type ones after the j model are apparently twitchy at the rear due to a stiff shock. Can't comment anecdotally, because i haven't ridden one, just going off journo opinion.

The B models are indeed very much oversprung for the road and most people get it sorted. Personally I don't find it too much of a problem but then I don't do many road miles.

A lot depends on what your used to.

Your brother owns a G model (1998 - 1999) ZX6R In that case.

https://www.koups.com/sales/kawasaki/images/1998%20models/zx600g1grn.jpg

After this (2000 - 2001) came the J an improved G model in various ways (Im very bias, this is mine)

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v171/dodsi2000/ZX6R.jpg

2002 came the A1P, same as the J with a 636 motor aparantly no better than the J just a bit newer and more expensive.

https://www.koups.com/sales/kawasaki/images/2002%20%20models/ZX600-J3_GREEN.jpg

Then 2003 - 2004 came the B model ZX6R, much more race focussed and also the RR models which were 599cc

https://www.mag-knight.com/images/Orange%20ZX6r.JPG

And the RR

https://www.sportrider.com/bikes/2004/2004-kaw-zx6rr-01-2.jpg

Then 2005 - present we have the C model ZX6R

https://www.bright.ne.jp/lineup/ninjazx-6r/imge/06-zx6r-bk1024.jpg

Hope this helps. Thumbs Up

heres mine 99 g model I believe.
Stepped up from a gpx 250 so going from a 400 you should have no probs.
Found it much more stable and confidence inspiring.
Granted haven't really ridden much else.
Have managed a few 300km trips and found it very comfy. Im only 5'4 thought, so that could help.
I understand as you get newer they become more sports oriented and so does the seating position. So for me this was a nice middle ground. Sporty styling and reasonable posi.

That and its the model I've always liked. Now I have it I'm as happy as a pig in shit and have no regrets.

I am a big fan of the J model ZX6R's as its not too track focussed, makes a great road bike.

The G's are good too but just the front fairing is ugly.

the single headlight version is old and dated, i would at least go for the double headlight model.

Or just get a GSXR, which are loads better and wont go through head gaskets like hot dinners Smile.
