So, passed my test about 3-4 weeks ago. Matey boy instructor/examiner took licence and sent it to the DVLA to be updated... and thats where I've gotten to. It's been near enough a month and it hasn't quite come home yet. what is the best way to liberate my licence?

99.5% of licences are issued by the DVLA within 3 weeks (15 working days).

Quote:
14. When You Have Sent The Form
It usually takes three calendar weeks or 15 working days from the date of receipt of your form at DVLA until your licence arrives. It might take longer if we have to check on your health or personal details. Please allow at least 3 weeks for your licence to arrive and then if your licence has not arrived in this time, please write to:

Customer Enquiries Group (Drivers), DVLA, Swansea, SA7 0EE
(please do not send your application to this address)

or phone: 0870 - 240 - 0009
If you have impaired hearing and have access to a minicom facility
please ring 01792 766366 for driving licence enquiries.
Ring between: 08.00 - 20.30 Monday to Friday and 08.00 - 17.30 Saturday.

or fax: 0870 850 1285

or e-mail: drivers.dvla@gtnet.gov.uk

When contacting the Customer Enquiry Unit, you will need to provide your driver number or your full name, address and date of birth.

When you telephone you will be answered by our interactive voice system. However during office hours, callers will also be given the option of speaking to an operator. Please note some calls are monitored for quality purposes. If you ring on someone else's behalf we will not release information from a driver's record or issue a duplicate driving licence without the licence holder's permission.

Call the test centre first to see if they've sent it off or call your instructor if you gave it to him.

Just rang them Laughing

'It's in the medical department'

'what?'

'uh, someone must have had a similar name to you, done a modified test and sent it to the medical department.'

'I see... so I have been without a licence for a month because someone with a similar name sent in a licence at the same time? Thank goodness you aren't a government department then.'

'uh, yeah, I'll put you through to medical, sorry about that'

'no problem'

I wonder if these people can keep a straight face when they so freely hand out these lame excuses. I bet they have a little chuckle to themselves.
