Last night I was out after the England match, on the beer. Not feeling so clever this morning and struggle to remember much after 2am. However, I do remember being threatened in the toilets.

A jock stood up to me in the toilets when I was singing 'engerlaaaand, engerlaaaand' like ya do at football matches. This jock says to me "Watch what your singing round these parts mate" After a little while of him telling me he is pissed off with people shouting and screaming about england he put a knife in my face. I was getting a little bit worried and shaky at this point. I said look mate if I stop will you leave me alone or what, and was really worried. The guy then cut my arm with the knife and told me to fuck off. At which poing I did, and quickly too.

That shit was scary.

Not clever in front of a knife mate.

Your best bet was try and get away from the situation as quickly as possible.

NEVER engage someone with a knife.

Glad you're ok.

Toby

And get it reported to the police. They probably won't be able to act though as there tends not to be CCTV in toilets.

Was in a club at the time, and I was leathered already as it goes. Had already sunk 9 bottles. And the guy looked like a reet hard bloke. I can take a punch, and throw one fairly well too. But im a skinny 19 yr old lad really, and wouldnt exactly be able to wrestle a knife off of the bloke.

Should have got getyerkneedown to kick the shit out of him, he's good at doing that in mens toilets. Rolling Eyes

There's arseholes all over the world just glad that your semi ok, glad it never came to anything more. There's so many stories about where people are getting knifed over nothing. Some idiot thinks he's hard and before you know it the knife has been used.
Get it reported, there must be cctv in the place, get him fingered.

I think you're underestimating your assailant.

A bloke in a pub bog who can engage you in conversation, unsheath a knife and harm you with it all whilst taking a piss without taking to top off his knob has got the sort of dexterity that only fire jugglers can dream of.

When he told his mates he was off to the Gents for a slash I bet they didn't think he meant that sort of one!

Glad your OK Thumbs Up

That could have gone bad mate……glad you’re alright….shit!!

I’m not sure what I would have done, probably something similar if I was wasted, if I was slightly more with it I might have smacked his wrist, hard. Knives drop out quickly if unexpectedly hit.
Mind you I’ve only practiced on someone not intending to stab me.

In a real world situation where your life is actually in danger, the only thing you think of is getting out of the situation without getting killed. You did exactly as I would have done, just tried to diffuse it.

I would get the police on the blower though, there will be cctv trained on the bog doors, as that's where a lot of the nasty stuff can happen. If they get a positive ID on the guy then he'll be in a world of trouble.

Thats some scary shit. Dont anyone listen to the 'what I would have done' advice, even the hardest men of this world have the 'get the fuck out of there' opinion when faced with a knife. You know what I would have done? I would have shit myself, I may have even cried at the thought of getting my pretty face slashed. Unless your Casey Reiback (he also cooks) then you aint getting the knife out of harms way before you end up cut. If he cut your arm I would go to the hospital and ask for a tetanus shot and maybe even a hep A/B, you never know where that dirty bastard has had that knife.

Glad your OK but dont think too lightly of that situation mate Thumbs Up

Should have had a quick word with the Bouncers ASAP after it happened, but as mentioned, in the immediate situation, best thing is to usually get away as unharmed as possible.
He was probably on CCTV somewhere and if he cut your arm, you could probably get him quite seriously done. Though of course, if it's someone that already has a long list of similar convictions, it's probably not going to change anything Sad.

Knock the knife out of his hand and give him a quick jab? All well and good until you find half the people in the pub are his mate and they have knives as well.

In the past I've been a bit intimidated when I've found large groups of people that see me as some kind of 'threat' because I'm /not/ joining in singing. Luckily, I don't really go to the sort of places knives would be pulled etc.

I'd be willing to bet if people wwere shouting 'Trinibad', if they had won, there would be a lot, lot more of this sort of incident Neutral.

It's frightening how quick it can happen.

I was outside pub with GF a while back, just waiting for a lift from her dad when six lads came up behind me and one cracked me in the face, then carried on walking like nothing had happened.

I was very lucky it was not a knife or a bottle, given the area.

That's a horrifying story for a relatively old geezer like me Shocked ...glad you're ok. You did the right thing under the circumstances...being under the influence of alcohol and attempting to do self-defence can be fatal. As a 'practitioner' of self defence by making yourself human as opposed to just some other common football fan, by engaging the guy, you did extremely well - I'dve done the same thing, rather than take out the hand carrying the knife and . I think it is in the interests of everyone in your area that you report the incident to the police who will hopefully catch the guy and get another knife wielding thug off the streets.

World cup is every 4 years and is on even numbered years! How would they have a world cup in 1983?

Or do you mean the cricket world cup?

'82 World Cup was held in Spain and England drew with the hosts 0-0 in the second round of Group matches as I recall (Yeah, I'm old Confused ).

Spain failed to qualify for the semi's - I thought it was far too pedantic to point all that out though Wink

It makes me sick to think that people pull knifes out on others, let alone for such a stupid reason.

I would have done exactly the same and ran away. I have been in situations similar to that before and ran every time. Yeah I look like a wimp but at least I get away unharmed.
