in the winter, a sickly looking stray appealed for help at my window, and i took him in rather than see him die in the cold.
he was a skeleton and his fur was all matted and falling out
I took him to the vet and they looked him over, gave me some worming tablets and flea thing for him.
I think it did help a bit
he looks a lot better now but he still looks a sorry sight. He is getting a bit of shine to his fur but he still doesnt clean himself and he stinks.
He used to be quite vicious but now accepts being brushed to some extent. Tryng to give him a proper wash would invovlve him getting very cross and scared, and me being ripped to shreds. At first after I took him in, he refused to go outside at all. He is now getting more confidant and today he was out when I left for the day and i thought he'd be ok until got back this evening and let him in.
I come back to find that my chavy neighbour has had the RSPCA pick him up and if i dont pay to take him to the vet, the RSPCA are going to take him and have him put down.
As it turns out I do have the money to take him to the vet, so I will but its daft because they couldnt do a lot for him the first time when he was worse. He is slowly on the mend and the vet isnt gonna have a miricacle cure.
The thing that annoys me, is that if i didnt have the money for the vet, the RSPCA bloke says they could take him and also give me warning for neglect and ban me from having animals, so that means they would take my two healthy cats and kill them too !
To reinforce the fact that my chavvy neighbour is an annoying freak, she produced a stuffed cat mounted on a wooden plinth(her first cat apparently).
I know this cat I took in is a sight, and smells, but he is on the mend and I havnt neglected him.
Of course I was nice as pie so as not to get their backs up, but its a bloody cheek.
I have heard of the rspca's policy of nabbing pets and having them put down on the say so of neighbours or general interfering wotsits before.

the neightbour was standing there helping out by saying things like 'urgh, he smells'.
i think they know i havnt been torturing the cat. They think I have been neglecting it. The implication is that this cat needs to go to the vet and I havnt taken him.
I disagree, but once bitchface has put the wheels in motion, if the rspca man had taken the cat away, the rspca wdnt have wasted money on trying to make him better, they wd have just killed him.
I did take him to the vet a few months ago and he has improved but its gonna be a long time before he is as healthy as a normal cat. If some ethiopian has been on starvation rations for months, and then makes his way to some aid station or hospital, he isnt gonna start looking normal for quite some time.
When i first had the cat, it was like he was in shock. He would sit still for hours moving only to go eat, drink or use the litter tray. He would then return to his position.
He now is a bit more perky and takes an interest in things a bit, but he is nothing like the playful curious kittens I have.
I dont think he ever will be but he is filling out and becoming less skinny.
The thing that gets me is cat stuffer looks like a persistant bitch, so I wdnt be surprised if even after I have taken him to the vet, she keeps calling the RSPCA out 'until something is done'. The cat is never gonna look normal and she wont be happy until its carted off.
Its not that keen on going outside and so is usually inside, but i shd be able to let it out without worrying someone is gonna abduct it.
Some helpful kids abducted one of my kittens when they were still feeding from their mom. They thought it was lost. I only tracked them down by knocking on every door and someone told me the kids had taken him and where they lived.
I know these ppl mean well but ffs.
chances are when i take him to the vet tomorrow, they wont have a free appointment, but i will have done as ordered. If i tell rspca bloke i range for an appointment and there were none, this will be seen as me not playing ball. So I have to play by their rules. So the cat will have a wasted journey tomorrow and he wont like it much.
The other thing that bothers me is chances are my neighbour is probably gonna start being awkward about other things like where i park my bikes in the alleyway as its shared access, even though i own the alleyway and am responsible for its upkeep. ____________________ colin1 is officially faster than god |

my cat was like that looked really ragged , and it was really really old , turned out to be the cat of a woman who died , and people who did not live on the same street used to think I abused it, its age and condition never improved other than its fur getting shinier and it getting a wee bit fatter. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I think the RSPCA is being unreasonable and on the word of this chavvy neighbour, commiting 'slander' by implying you are a person unfit to look after animals. I would suggest that you speak to the most senior person in the RSPCA in your area - write down the facts of how you found this animal in the first place and how you (at your expense) have attempted to being it back to health. Get the vet who you went to see to back you up, maybe get him to write a general letter explaining how good a cat owner you are (assuming you have had your other cats wormed and vaccinated) and some docmentation proving you went to see him with the cat. When you speak to the senior RSPCA person (or write to him) tell him you will have no hesitation in suing his organisation if he attempts to discredit you as a pet owner and that the publicity (probably nationally) this will inevitably generate will have a detrimental on their donation levels. They'll back off before you can say miaow ____________________ Using a mobile phone while driving a car should be made a capital offence! |

Your first thing to have done was to have stood in front of the RSPCA guys and the nosey neighbour and told her to piss off while you explain what has 'actually' happened to the RSPCA.
Then explained what has gone on. ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP

my god you have just reinstalled my faith in you!
RSPCA are shit! - I used to have this wicked old binny of a neighbour who kept harping on about our guinea pigs, who were fine! - RSPCA came round and said all was fine, in fact very happy piggies etc etc.
RSPCA however, would rather spend time wasted checking out an old biddy who doesnt know her arse from her elbow, BUT report a horse in a field with a headcollar imbedded into its face bones who likes like a meat rack and they DO NOTHING,,,,,why?? Oh its got bit of grass and water, there is nothing we can do!
Pricks the lot of them. Cat Protection League are ok....but RSPCA sorry they suck over the last few years, all a bit politically correct etc...
Tell them you rescued the bloody cat and to sod off with the attitude.

Nice one for rescuing the cat, You've gone up in my estimation (Not that that matters much, but I'm a cat fan! )
Phone up the RSPCA and have a quiet word. Also as people have said get evidence from the vet that you've taken it in before.
Don't play ball with the bitch of a neighbour, stand up for yourself. High and mightly neighbours don't like being told to cunt off. |

So, by taking in a stray, paying for it to go to the vets and looking after it, you're neglecting it?
Utter madness.
Colin, good on you for going out of your way to help this poor cat, the universe will reward you with good karma, just as I have on the board. ____________________ "Is sir addressing me or is he masticating on a house brick? Because either way sir loses his teeth." |
