It's the best part of £2,100 for a 50cc, so I'd say no.

I wouldn't spend more than a grand on a disposable bike to be honest.

Why not just buy a cheap 50cc? you will only have it for 1 year and it'l be enough to learn the roads on, then you have the money for either a decent geared 125, or your test/bigger bike at 17.
Just a thought...

Please do not waste £2k on a 50cc you will regret it if you do.

Use the money to get your full license then get a bigger bike.

You will be bored of a 50cc within a month

Do not buy a brand new 50cc. I did last year (spent £1500) and regret it so much as you lose so muhc money!

Buy a second hand one that someones already done the work on and then try not to crash, you hardly lose anything!

I agree. Dont spend much on a 50cc . Waste of money. As said, buy a cheap thing then a 125 when you are 17 . Unless of course you want to go straight to taking your test Thumbs Up

wen i was 15,all my 16 year old mates had brand new speedfight 2s. they spent about £1500-£2000. one of them crashed theres and ended up selling it 2 years later for about £500! the other friend sold it for about £700. apparently they devalue by 50% once you ride them from brand new.
i bought my peugeot speedfight 2, X-reg from a shop for £895.it was perfectand i sold it a year later for £850!!!
so no,dont buy brand new in my opinion

You should be able to get a VERY cheap geared 50 like a madass, which looks like a proper (mountain) bike. I think they go at 1500 inc insurance, but bet you could get a cheap banger second hand

Cost about £1000 new, not many around so they seem to hold their value well too.

Wow wow wow, they really are not that great in standard form... I had one and it was awful. However, pop a 110cc pit bike engine into it and then you have a fun bike Twisted Evil
As for build quality, it's not that good. Everything appears stong and that buts a bit crap. The exhaust will rust badly (the can!) within a winter of riding and loose connections galore! They aren't made in Germany which is the reason, apparently they are made in china by FYM... But if you bought one second hand and put a 110 into it (you can buy them for as little as 100/150 quid) then it would be worth it.
