 |
|
Hi
I have a full car licence and have done for teh last 18yrs...i have sgined up for my CBT this saturday but on checking my photocard licence... bikes ain't listed.
Now from what i have read i CAN ride a 125CC if i have a CBT cert but do i need to apply for provisional bikes to be added to my licence first?
Does that make sense? |

Look on the paper counterpart bit of the licence - it should be on there under the heading "Provisional Entitlement". ____________________ Current bike: Kawasaki Z750S |

Yes you can do your CBT on your licence and yes you can ride a 125 on the same licence after.
When you go do do your CBT take both parts with you.
Have fun. ____________________ You watching this rubbish?

And photo id!!!!!! (for when you take your theory and also practical test).
I was in the same situation past car at 17 bike at 32.
You've got the advantage of road knowledge, which helps immensely. |
I was in the same boat too. Passed car at 17 and bike at 44
There was no bike entitlement on my photo licence but it was on my paper counterpart version.
Yes, you can ride a 125 on 'L' plates for up to 2 years on your car licence as long as you have your DL196 (CBT Pass Certificate).
Basically, you need to take the CBT to 'validate' the motorcycle entitlement on your car licence (just in case plod stops you for any reason). CBT is compulsory for ALL motorcycle riders, and it's not expensive really, so just do it. I'm sure you'll pass
It's not mandatory, but the DVLA do say that you are recomended to take the CBT in order to 'Validate' your full moped (50cc) entitlement which comes automatically as part of a full car licence.

Erm...
You've got me a little confused there
If I remember rightly, you have to produce your DL196 (CBT Pass) when you arrive at the Theory Test Centre, together with your photo licence and the paper counterpart. Therefore, the CBT must be taken prior to the theory test - yes ?
I might be wrong. I'm happy to be corrected ____________________ Horse Power was safer when the Horses had it! |

No when I did my theory they did not ask for my CBT.
A lot of people just do the theory then a full week DAS, ie CBT on day 1, test on day 5. ____________________ I've a twin and a 4. |
