OK, I bought my first motorcycle in November last year. I bought a lot of kit to go with it, and most of it was winter gear. I've since bought some summer shoes/boots and pants (Draggin) but I realised yesterday that I need a summer jacket. Normally, when I set off for work at 7am and come home at 6pm, the heat is OK - but at 1pm when I rode yesterday afternoon I was sweltering!

If I get a textile summer jacket, the Dainese Zentex jacket looks OK (and I've already got a Dainese back protector that I can use in it from my winter kit). But as my winter gear is all textile and I'm going to do a few trackdays at some point, I'd quite like to consider a ventilated leather jacket if such things exist (as leather is required on track). It would need to be a jacket that could zip to a pair of leather pants.

Any suggestions? Without going over the top, fit/comfort is more important than price. I could probably do with some cooler gloves than my Racer Multitop as well.

Ventilated leather is fairly common for 1 and 2 piece suits. Usually they have the leather perforated (lots of little holes) on the front and back.

They do let in water like a sieve though, and can actually get pretty cool at night even in summer, often have to wear a fleece over the top.

[edit]For gloves you want some of these babies:

Nankai NRG33

Perforated leather and air ducts on the fingers and back of hand. You can actually feel the air flowing through, even at 30mph Smile

I just bought one of these.

https://www.bikechatforums.com/files/dsc00220.jpg

It's armoured in the shoulders and elbows, has leather in the impact areas/back, is breathable cordura/D Stone fabric everywhere else and has a removable thermal lining. It's been very good so far and nice and cool compared to my leather. I wanted a light weight jacket but wanted it to be hard wearing and armoured. The removable thermal lining is good too, keep it in on cooler mornings and take it out for the ride home. Thumbs Up

Got it from here https://www.earnshaws.net/ very nice lady. Wink

It's in the Dainese Shop, Mens, Leather Jackets section.

What is it - Trax S ? Looks great from the back - not so sure about the front, would have to see it for real I guess.

FWIW I have a Hein Gericke Air jacket and find it ideal for this warm weather. Fitted with the Hiprotec flexible armour as well so even less bulky.

Yep, it is the Trax-S. Couldn't decide between it and the City Trax in Black, but it turns out my mind was made up for me. They stopped making the City Trax so everywhere that shows it as been in stock are lying, as I found out after phoning around.

It is a nice looking jacket, everyone that sees it seems to like it, suppose it depends on your taste. It zips straight into my P103 leather jeans and the leather trim matches. As I said, I wanted something that offered more protection than a Paddock/Cordura jacket and this takes my G2 back protector. It's now as armoured as my Leather and Dainese claim that the D Stone fabric is more abrasion resistant than leather, not that I want to find out. With the liner in I recon it'll be ok for 3 season use, apart from very rain days.

Well, bought myself this Dainese Zentex in the end (which takes my back protector too) - but now it's raining so I haven't tried it out yet. Found one online and ordered it, only to be told the next day that they've sold out. But when I went to Infinity Motorcycles in Farnborough this afternoon, they had two on the shelf. I surprised myself by also liking the Dainese Nevada perforated leather jacket, which looks pretty crap on the website but quite nice in reality - though they only had one in stock and it was way too small.

All those perforations should let a bit more air in!

Nice one. I've been using the Trax-S since I got it, only used my full leather once in that time and can't fault it. I had the Zentex on my short list but only a couple of places had them in and they were yellow Confused Looks like it'll let a good amount of air through.
