Not meaning to be too rude, but how heavy are you?

Weight has a big effect on small bikes like the NSR, I have a friend who won't mind me saying is HUGE, Jon rides a GSXR400 and cannot get anything like the top speed that my boyfriend (with the same model bike) can get.

If you aren't particularly heavy then maybe look at other things more technical.... /me looks at Keith/Kev/G/MrL etc.

Has the gearing been changed? If its been down geared for more acceleration then you will lose top end.
Otherwise, it could be the piston needs changing(like mine).

How many miles / kilometers have you done then Col?
When should i change them on the NSR.
The RS needs changing every 8'000khm. But surely maybe the NSR changes at about 10'000?

How can you tell? a lose of power i guess.
Not starting up so well?

I don't think mine need changing but its best to know for the future.
Dont want them taking out the old barrel...

otherwise ill be forced to buy a new top end. or worse...Zims engine...

Mines done at least 35000. Its showing 28 but i havnt had a speedo/odo for 18 months!

Test the compression(ask keith nicely), if iots down then it needs a new un! Mines showing 105PSi, lower service limit is 114 and optimum is 142!

It should indeed be every 10k. Official Honda piston/rings kit is £37.50 from Andys in stoke and they always have them in stock. Base gasket is also needed at about £3.

I have a compression tester. might give it a while to have a look.
Can you just get away with changing the rings. instead of the whole kit?
£37.50 is cheap enough any how.
Don't supose they do mail order aswell.

if they do ill be phoing you up for the number in the future.

And wow your NSR has done a fair amount of miles.
Suprised the gearbox and bottom end is still intact. lol
Honda suprise me again.

Just checking that this is the faired not the unfaired model?

The unfaired models seem to have different gearing and the engine in alower state of tune.

I know, it's the FK that's unfaired. However there's a lot of confusion with these models.... some people even describe the NS125RK as the NSR125RK. I have seen the unfaired models being described as RK before, so just checking it was a faired one.

thats the NS in the pic, i thought you had an NSR dean?

anyway, 90-95 was the derestricted speed, i never tried to derestrict mine, only had it for 4 months, and it only did 70. though i once did 93 after a big hill.

Mine was red, looked a lot better.

NSR or NS125R?
I thought the NSR125 started in the early 90's

NS went on to 91, just to be confusing (well there's plenty of them registered in 91 Smile ).

I never got over 90 on my NS... and that was lying completly flat along the bike on an airstrip. Was derestricted, but no other mods.
